Abstract:Gravity quay is a kind of conventional quay structure,and its design methods vary from country to country in the world.In this paper,according to Chinese port engineering codes and European (British) standards,we made a comprehensive comparative analysis of theoretical basis of design,calculation parameter,loading combination,the stability checking calculation of stability against sliding and overturning,and bearing capacity checking calculation of foundation for gravity quay structure design.Combined with the calculation example,we compare quantitatively the difference of calculation method,and put forward some aspects that should be paid attention to when using European standard to design gravityquay.The results show that the calculation method of the European (British) standard is generally more strict,especially when the checking method of soil strength partial factor is taken into account for the design method.
