    Abstract:

Based on the piling practice of 12 mm thick steel pipe pile in a project in the Eastern Africa,we summarize the pile-driving regularity of the thin-wall steel pipe pile in the highly weathered rock area and the conclusions are as follows:when the steel pipe pile enters the highly weathered rock of 50 standard penetration blow count, the penetration is within 21.5~28.3 mmblow and the maximum energy transfer coefficient reaches 94.5% of the hydraulic pile driving hammer while the pile tip is in the highly weathered rock. The penetration depth of pile tip can reach 7.1 m in the highly weathered rock, and the penetration is 1.5 mmblow correspondingly. When the pile tip of the thin-wall steel pipe pile enters 3.7 m below the highly weathered rock layer, the end resistance increases slowly, and the resistance value of the pile increases by 30.8%~32.8% according to the result of pile D1 and E1.
