Considering differences between the determination methods of foundation bearing capacity in overseas geotechnical engineering investigation and that in China,this paper studies the similarities and differences of the determination methods of foundation bearing capacity in domestic and foreign countries.Based on Khalifa Port Container Terminal Phase Two,Abu Dhabi,the analytical formula method and standard penetration test method are used for comparative analysis.It is concluded that the standard penetration test method should be used to calculate and determine the bearing capacity of the foundation in the sand foundation of overseas projects,which provides guidance for the determination of the bearing capacity of the foundation in the geotechnical engineering investigation at home and abroad.
