      Abstract:With the completion of the Three Gorges project,the navigation channel in the upstream reservoir area has been significantly improved,the freight volume of the lockage increased rapidly,the contradiction between the capacity of ship lock and the demand for lockage turned increasingly prominent,and the Three Gorges navigation became a node restricting the further development of the Yangtze River navigation.The Three Gorges Navigation Authority conducts a research on the rapid maintenance technology of ship lock,the operation organization of ship lock,and the operation and maintenance of the ship lift.In order to further improve the capacity of the Three Gorges,Gezhouba lock and ship lift,and build modern navigation of the Three Gorges and create a new situation for navigation of the Three Gorges,this paper proposes technology research programs.

      Abstract:According to the new requirements on the Yangtze River shipping credit construction in the new period of the transportation development, this paper analyzes the current status of the Yangtze River shipping credit management to find out the existing problems, point out the inadaptability between the Yangtze River shipping credit management and the development of transportation industry. The general idea of constructing the Yangtze River shipping credit system and the idea of establishing a unified shipping credit platform are put forward. The construction of the “one centre three databases” credit file system is to take the lead in the Three Gorges reach as a breakthrough to gradually improve the construction of the Yangtze River shipping credit system.

      Abstract:The quality of hydraulic structure of Gezhouba ship lock has a direct impact on the service life of the hub.For 38 years of operation of the Gezhouba ship lock,we manage the operation and maintenance of its hydraulic structures to rigorously follow the national and ministerial laws,regulations and standards,establish a scientific and standardized maintenance management system,and strengthen the management of daily inspections,instrument monitoring,daily maintenance,and monitoring data,adopt engineering treatment measures such as ship lock monitoring facility automation transformation,structural seam leakage treatment etc,innovate ship lock maintenance construction method,process and technology,establish the rapid maintenance system for ship lock,set up a professional ship lock maintenance team,and continuously improve the management capability and level of the operation and maintenance to ensure the safety and stability of hydraulic structure of Gezhouba ship lock.

    • Navigation conditions of ships passing through locks in Three Gorges project under gale weather

      Abstract:It is an important basis for ensuring navigation and operation safety of the Three Gorges project to study the navigation conditions in extreme weather.Based on the observation of the ship navigation prototype under gale weather,the navigable performance of the waterway near the dam under gale above grade 6 is summarized,that is,the distribution of wind field,wind speed,wind direction and shelter area in different sections.Through numerical simulation of the key indexes of seakeeping,that is,the comparison value of the ship’s wind pressure tilting moment and wind pressure restoring moment,the differences of seaworthiness and wind resistance ability of different types of ships are summarized.The calculation results show that when the upper approach channel of the Three Gorges ship lock has gale wind above grade 6 in the waters of its connecting section,the wind power in lock and approach channel waters may be less than grade 6.Because the angle between the wind direction and the axis of the approach channel is small,ships entering and leaving the lock are also less affected by the gale wind.When other waters near the dam are closed to navigation due to gale,closed and controlled navigation of lock and approach channel is feasible.The research results provide a basis for the navigation agencies of the Three Gorges to actively solve the emergency navigation problems under the gale weather.

      Abstract:To improve the pertinence and scientificity of the credit management of lockage ship in the Three Gorges reach,we analyze the current status of credit management of ship passing through the Three Gorges reach,separate the indicators from the three major classifications of ship,crew and shipping company based on the credit management division of the ship declaration process,establish a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model for lockage ship’s credit,and verify the model by the perennial lockage ship “Minheng ”.The results show that the credit score calculated by the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is consistent with the actual credit rating.

      Abstract:The technology of improving the safety inspection efficiency of ships crossing the Three Gorges section is studied.In view of the current status of ship safety inspection in the Three Gorges section,we probe into the achievements and problems one year after implementation of 100% safety inspection of the Yangtze River Three Gorges area,and put forward measures for further improving the safety inspection efficiency of ships passing through the three Gorges section.Through strengthening the application of the information technology for the safety inspection of ships passing the lock,improving the understanding of safety inspection work by shipping enterprises and shipowners,strengthening the shipowner’s cooperation and perfecting the construction of ship inspection base,we can reduce the working hours of safety inspection and promote the development of navigation informatization in the Three Gorges section.       Abstract:Aiming at the problem that the poor visibility of the Three Gorges Project seriously affects the efficiency of gate-crossing,we use prototype observation method such as ship test to analyze the one-way controlled navigation maneuvering characteristics,and measure braking stroke data of the ship passing through the lock under fog condition.Referring to the empirical formulas of similar ship test applications,we calculate the braking stroke of representative ships,and analyze the minimum visibility requirement data corresponding to the required safe velocity in the lock water of the Three Gorges Project from a partial safety point of view.The results show that visibility of 200 m under fog condition can satisfy the requirement of controlled navigation in lock water,which can provide the references for further improving the passing capacity of the Three Gorges Project.

      Abstract:Due to the limitation of the structural strength of the ship compartment of the Three Gorges ship lift and the prevention of the ship touching bottom,the tonnage of ship passing through the ship lift cannot exceed 3,000 tons.At present,there is no corresponding fast calibration method for ship’s tonnage in the industry.We analyze the relation of different ship types of three-dimension with tonnage,take the ship square coefficient as the key point,and obtain an empirical formula for fast calculation of ship’s tonnage.Moreover,we propose a method for calibrating the tonnage of ships passing through the Three Gorges Dem after verifying the formula by an example.The results show that the accuracy of empirical formula of ship’s tonnage satisfies the requirements,and the proposed calibration method is fast and accurate.

      Abstract:Safety accident is caused by super draft when the ships pass the lock,ship lift and other navigation facilities.The common draft check methods have disadvantages,and cannot satisfy the check requirement.Combining with the diffraction principle of the ultrasonic wave,we design a draft check system based on the single-beam ultrasonic arrays in side-scan setting,introduce the composition and function of this system in detail,and install and test the system in the Gezhouba ship lock.The results show that this system has the advantages of strong adaptability of muddy water,easy installation and convenient maintenance,can effectively detect the draft of the ship.The standard deviation between measured draft depth and validation data is less than 0.086 m.This system has certain forewarning function to the passing ships.

      Abstract:The normal operation of the Three Gorges ship lock’s herringbone gate opening instrument is an important guarantee for the safe and efficient operation of the Three Gorges ship lock.There are a series of problems in the opening instrument used in the herringbone gate of the Three Gorges ship lock,such as the spare parts cannot be purchased due to production suspension,the maintenance and construction procedures are complex and time-consuming,the maintenance and replacement costs are high,and the operation state is unstable.In view of these situations,the programmable logic control technology and computer monitoring technology are used to study the application of laser radar sensed gate opening instrument in Three Gorges ship lock.The practice shows that the measurement data of the laser radar opening instrument are more consistent with the measured data of the built-in opening instrument,the laser radar opening instrument meets the requirements of the core control technology of“synchronous opening and closing” and “centering closing” of the herringbone gate of the Three Gorges ship lock.

      Abstract:Aiming at the problem of how to improve the efficiency of Three Gorges ship lock,the internal relationship between the sequence of five-level upward operation locks and the efficiency of Three Gorges ship lock is studied.Based on the law of the five-stage upward movement of the Three Gorges ship lock,an idealized model is established.It is concluded that the two main factors affecting the efficiency of the upward passage of the Three Gorges ship lock are the delay time of moving berths and the delay time of equipment.By using the equivalent model to deduce and apply the “same ship concentration,trapezoid distribution” arrangement method to optimize the lock sequence,the time of berthing delay can be effectively reduced,so as to improve the efficiency of the upstream five-stage operation locks of the Three Gorges ship lock.

      Abstract:In view of the increasing demand of ship passing through dam and the insufficiency of ship lock passing capacity,this paper studies the optimization of ships bearing off Gezhouba ship lock,and puts forward two modes which are called “full-synchronously bear off lock” and “semi-synchronously bear off lock”.Based on the analysis of the current situation of ships bearing off Gezhouba ship lock,and the layout of navigation construction facilities and channel conditions,the basic operation organization scheme for ships “synchronously bearing off” Gezhouba ship lock is obtained.The mathematical models of “full-synchronously bearing off lock”,“semi-synchronously bearing off lock” and “one by one bearing off lock” are established,and it is calculated that the time of bearing off Gezhouba ship lock can be shortened by selecting appropriate scheme to carry out synchronous bearing off.The conclusion can provide theoretical support for carrying out the real ship trial of Gezhouba lock at the later stage.

      Abstract:Aiming at the present situation of remote image monitoring and manual monitoring for the operation and management of the Three Gorges and Gezhouba ship lock,we study the application of ship’s precise positioning in the lock chamber and computer vision technology,including the influence of the hydraulic structure of the lock chamber on positioning,the operation detection of the mooring column in the lock wall groove,and the structure of the intelligent berthing system.The research conclusion is that the application of the above technology can basically realize the near real-time and continuous tracking display of the ship’s position and trajectory in the whole process of lock-passing,effectively detect and judge the ship’s mooring situation and berthing position,and basically realize the intelligent supervision of ship’s lock-passing through the simulation interface of management terminal,information push and other functions,so as to improve the operation of lock.It is of great significance for improving the management level and the efficiency of overturning.

      Abstract:Through the research and analysis of the variables and invariants that affect the efficiency of passing through the gate,it is concluded that the inherent regularity of the berthing time as a variable is that the difference of the berthing time is determined by the number of waiting stages outside the gate.This paper demonstrates the necessity of changing the current level-5 ship lock operation level-2 berthing and waiting lock into level-5 operation level-5 waiting lock navigation organization pattern,and the feasibility of adding necessary engineering measures on the basis of the original design navigation facilities of the Three Gorges project.It provides a reference for the Three Gorges navigation administration to carry out the navigation organization work of seamless connection between the waiting gate and the crossing gate,greatly improve the traffic volume of the Three Gorges hub (about 12 million tons on the basis of 2017 level year),and serve the development of the Yangtze River economic belt.

      Abstract:The downstream approach channel of Three Gorges ship lift has the characteristics of large fluctuation of water level and fast change rate. To reduce the influence of water level change on downstream docking operation of the ship of Three Gorges ship lift,we establish a mathematical expression of fitting for the water depth of ship and the deviation between ship and the downstream when docking downstream of the ship by using the least squares fitting method.It is concluded that the water depth of ship and the deviation between ship and the downstream are linearly corresponding when docking downstream of the ship.According to the current operation status of Three Gorges ship lift,and the variation of the water depth of ship,the deviation between ship and the downstream,we propose the operational strategies for different periods of docking downstream of the ship to provide experience for the operation of the Three Gorges ship lift.

      Abstract:Aiming at the abnormal falling velocity of the anti-collision truss of the Three Gorges ship lift,we study the influence rule of three factors including the throttle area of the oil return port,the friction resistance of the truss and the deceleration point of the descending stroke of the truss on the falling velocity of the anti-collision truss.By establishing the mechanical model of the falling action of the anti-collision truss,combining with the hydraulic system,mechanical mechanism and electrical control principle of the anti-collision truss,we adopt the mathematical equation modeling and AMESim simulation analysis method to obtain the influence rule of three factors on the falling velocity of the anti-collision truss theoretically.The results show that the throttle area of the oil return port,the friction resistance of the truss and the deceleration point of the descending stroke of the truss all can obviously cause the abnormal falling velocity of the anti-collision truss,which can provide references for the similar projects.

      Abstract:The great and fast variation of water level has always been the focus of operation management of the Three Gorges ship lift.To ensure safety,strict control conditions are adopted in the trough docking position in the design,but it also frequently causes the fault of stop position and increase of reposition,which seriously affects efficiency.In view of the low efficiency of accurate stopping,we study the docking stopping mechanism,optimize the control value of the deviation between the trough location and the channel water level and add measures of manual intervention based on the automatic control mode of following water to calibration target position to improve the exact stopping condition and docking efficiency. Analyzing the variation law of the channel’s water level and characteristics of the trough displacement and the driving motor speed during the docking stopping,we obtain the difference between the downstream and upstream,present the idea to degrade the slope of speed control curve to improve smoothness. It provides reference for the improvement of the safety and efficiency of the ship lift operation.

      Abstract:Since the trial operation of the Three Gorges ship lift,the unstable working state of the accurate parking system makes that the ship lift chamber cannot accurately stop on the upper part and the downstream water level occasionally.In order to improve the working performance of the Three Gorges accurate parking system,we calculate and analyze its detection accuracy both in the dynamic and nonstatic condition,and put forward the improvement plan based on the theoretical analysis and experimental data.The results show that the improvement plan of pluse width modulation(PMV) regulation and adjustments of the voltage and speed,can increase the sensitivity of the float that manifest the water level,which can satisfy the requirements of stable operation of Three Gorges ship lift at the present stage.

      Abstract:Aiming at the problem that how to improve the passing efficiency in the operation of the Three Gorges ship lift,we carry out statistical analysis by the trial operation data of one year,improve upstream closing mode,the release gap water and adjustment of the start and stop values of water depth of ship chamber after finding the shortcomings.After one year of usage of the new process,we apply data comparison and the method of combining theory with practice,and analyze the process comprehensively from the aspects of safety,stable operation and machine efficiency.The results show that the three plans have effectively shortened the operation time of the mechanism and are feasible,but there is still room for optimization.Based on this,we put forward the related suggestions to develop the function of the Three Gorges ship lift as a fast passage through the dam channel.

      Abstract:Water level detection for chamber is an important technology for normal operation of ship lock.Based on the current layout of water level gauges in the chamber of Three Gorges ship lock,we take 1#?and 2#chambers of south lock as the test object,add two water level gauges respectively in four wells of two adjacent lock chambers.According to the principle of odd voting method,three water level gauges in each well form an automatic judging mechanism,which can increase the reliability of single point detection of water level,and realize on-line fault detection,abnormal warning and replacement of the fault water level gauge without stopping.It solves the problem that the original single water level gauge cannot realize self-calibration judgment.

      Abstract:In view of the problem that the joint bolt of the gate of the Three Gorge ship lift is broken during the trial operation,we carry out the strength analysis of the bolt under different working conditions under the premise of satisfying the mechanical properties of the gate work gates,apply finite element software of Solidworks Simulation to establish the constitutive model of the bolt and joint plate,simulate the stress field of the bolt and joint plate,obtain the reason of the broken bolt,and propose the optimization scheme of the cylinder hinge.The results show that the original bolt strength preload is less than the maximum working load to cause the broken bolt.The replacement 10.9 grade high-strength bolt can satisfy the actual working conditions,the addition of two ribs ensure the strength of the cylinder hinge bolt connection plate,which can provide the references for the similar projects.

      Abstract:The water-stop board of lying down small gate plays the role of separating the head of lock and the water body of hull,and its sealing tightness affects the safe operation of the Three Gorges ship lift.We apply the formula of collision force of ship against pier and abutment in Fundamental Code for Design on Railway Bridge and Culvert to calculate the equivalent impact force of the ship’s frontal impact on the water-stop board of lying down small gate under normal operating condition,use the software of Solidworks and ANSYS Workbench respectively to model and strain analysis of the water-stop board of lying down small gate,propose two optimal transformation schemes of small plate closure and whole plate closure,and compare with the difficulty of construction process and structural strength respectively.The results show that the whole plate closure is optimal scheme,which is suitable for the general working condition of the site.

      Abstract:In view of the difficulty of lubrication construction,high safety risk and long working time of the balance weight frame of the Three Gorges ship lift,according to the structural form,operation characteristics and distribution of lubrication points of the balance weight frame of the Three Gorges ship lift,we design a centralized lubrication system for dry oil of portable single-line delivery,analyze the friction type and operating parameters of the lubrication point of the counterweight frame,determine the appropriate lubricant,calculate the oil demand and pipeline pressure loss of each lubrication point through research,and determine the specification,path and system working pressure of the pipeline to select the appropriate dispenser and grease pump.The results show that the modified dry oil centralized lubrication system of the balance weight frame is simple and easy to operate,and reduces the construction labor intensity and grease loss.

      Abstract:In view of the problem of the unstable vibration and noise interference in the rolling bearing fault signal acquisition in a reducer of the hoist of miter gate,a fault diagnosis method based on wavelet packet decomposition and power spectrum analysis were put forward based on wavelet threshold denoising for the diagnosis of rolling bearings.In this method,the fault signal was decomposed by wavelet function,and the decomposition coefficient was processed with threshold.The denoised signal was obtained by inverse wavelet transform of the decomposed coefficients.Then,the denoised signal was decomposed by wavelet packet,and the node with energy concentration was found,and the Hilbert envelope was demodulated and the power spectrum of its Hilbert envelope was obtained,so as to extract the fault feature information.The application example shows that the simulation signal and the fault diagnosis method for the reducer in the hoist of miter gate mechanical hoist can reduce the signal noise and interference,and extract the fault feature information.

      Abstract:In order to serve the golden waterway of the Yangtze River and give full play to the navigation benefits,the ship lock needs to be quickly overhauled,and the time of suspension due to the ship lock overhaul needs to be shortened.Based on the analysis of the current situation of clay cofferdam in the overhaul of Gezhouba ship lock,a kind of foldable water retaining wall for shallow water area is proposed,which is applied to the overhaul of ship lock and the construction of partial dry area water retaining cofferdam.Compared with the traditional clay cofferdam,the efficiency of water storage type retaining wall is increased by 20 times,which has the characteristics of fast and simple,good water retaining effect,simultaneous water retaining and drainage function,no damage to the foundation,convenient transportation,environmental protection and recyclable utilization,etc.;it can better adapt to the needs of quick overhaul and water retaining of the ship lock,improve the efficiency and quality of the lock overhaul,improve the construction environment,and further excavate the capacity of submersible lock.

      Abstract:The construction of the ship lock lifting miter gate in high position needs to install fixture of miter gate,and the traditional installation of fixture is complex and the security is poor.In terms of the existing conditions and defects of the fixture,we carried out the design study of the new fixture of the lifting miter gate for the Three Gorges ship lock and Gezhou ship lock,and applied it to the engineering practice.The installation of the optimized fixture of miter gate is simple,safe and reliable,and can effectively save construction time and space,reduce construction cost,and propose the further optimization ideas according to the application situation.

      Abstract:The ship lock water gallery is the main equipment for completing the lock chamber water discharge. To meet the needs of ship locks,the Gezhouba Shiplock has a maintenance flat door in the water conveyance corridor.The drop of it can block water temporarily,then through pumping and drainage,we can realize the dry maintenance of the lock chamber or valve well.Therefore,it is extremely important to check the water-stopping effect after the flat door is lowered,which is directly related to the lockout time of the shiplock.Through the investigation of the water leakage problem after the flat door of Gezhouba ship lock waterway is overhauled,we analyze factors causing water leakage,and propose suggestions and measures for the door drop and process improvement,so as to provide reference for the improvement of the dropping,placement and inspection process.

      Abstract:The floating overhaul gate of Gezhouba navigation lock (the floating gate) is an important part of the maintenance equipment and facilities in Gezhouba navigation lock,which plays a downstream water retaining role in the overhaul of Gezhouba navigation lock during the stopover period,and provides an anhydrous environment for the overhaul projects of the lock chamber corridor and the downstream miter gate.Quick and accurate alignment of floating overhaul gates of Gezhouba navigation lock is the basis of improving the efficiency of overhaul of Gezhouba navigation lock during shutdown period.The rapid and accurate alignment of floating door can be divided into three steps: floating door body entering slot,door body alignment and rapid sinking and floating.By analyzing the current situation of alignment of floating overhaul gates of Gezhouba navigation lock,starting with the influencing factors of floating gates,the rapid and accurate alignment of floating gates about Gezhouba is analyzed.

      Abstract:In order to solve the structural damage and accumulated damage formed during the long-term working process of the miter gate of ship lock,this paper proposes a remote real-time monitoring technology scheme of the miter gate of ship lock health status based on fiber bragg grating(FBG).According to the actual stress condition of the miter gate of ship lock and the working state of the special water environment,the FBG sensor network is deployed to remotely monitor the ship lock state,and the health status of the miter gate of ship lock is comprehensively evaluated by signal demodulation,data processing and analysis,damage identification and safety assessment system.This system solves the regular manual overhaul shortcomings such as affecting waterway transportation,unable to monitor and alert in real time.It is of great significance to improve the navigation efficiency and ensure the safety of equipment and facilities.

      Abstract:During raising of the miter gate,not only there is a safety risk on the construction due to the artificial mechanical jack,but also the construction efficiency is not high.This paper studies the utilization and control requirements of the mechanical jack,and proposes a feasible automatic jack scheme:adopting the mature technology of PLC and the drive technology,the automatic mechanical jacking is realized. Furthermore,this paper summarizes the automatic control scheme and corresponding mechanical jacking design scheme to provide reference for the upgrading from the artificial mechanical jacking to the automatic control during raising construction of the miter door.

      Abstract:The miter gate is one of the important equipments of the Three Gorges ship lock.It has a high frequency of operation and accelerates the occurrence of the bottom hinge failure rate.It must be periodically lifted for bottom hinge inspection and repair.Currently,the miter gate’s overhaul is usually implemented during the planned shutdown.The high-position lifting of the miter gate overhaul needs to demolish the top hinge and opening and closing mechanism,and fix the miter gate,which is suitable for the planned overhaul project with long construction period. Aiming at the sudden failures that may exist in the daily operation of the bottom hinge of the miter gate,we propose the overhaul plan of using the bottom hinge removal equipment and the supporting tooling to implement the bottom hinge removal without removing the top hinge.The research result proves that the scheme of low-position lifting of the miter gate for the overhaul of the bottom hinge is feasible,and it provides an alternative for the lifting miter gate overhaul of the Three Gorges ship lock.

      Abstract:To analyze the influence of defects of rack on the operation of the Three Gorges ship lift during its trial navigation,a three-dimensional finite element model of rack-gear contact with inclusions and pits was established by using Ansys Workbench finite element analysis software.The influence of different defects on rack-gear operation was analyzed by analytical solution and nonlinear finite element calculation.The results show that the inclusion and the pit in rack have different effects on the force of rack.The method provides a scientific theoretical basis for the inclusion content control in rack and rack-gear operation and maintenance.

      Abstract:According to the existing problems of complex operation,potential safety hazard and inefficiency about the water supply and drainage system for ship chamber of Three Gorges ship lift,the structural characteristics and operation process of the system were studied.The docking device of the supply and drainage system was designed,and the stress of the device was analyzed,which provided theoretical guidance for the design and verification of the docking device.This paper put forward the installation and layout of two kinds of docking devices,and compared the advantages and disadvantages of the two schemes.At the same time,Three Gorges ship lift chamber supply and drainage technology was optimized.The results show that the designed docking device can improve the efficiency of shipchamber water supply and drainage and the safety of personnel operation,and realize the integrated operation of ship chamber water supply and drainage of ship lift,so as to provide guarantee for the safe operation of ship lift in the Three Gorges.

      Abstract:Based on specific research condition for the water depth and locking mechanism of the Three Gorges ship lift chamber,we analyze the force variation of pinion gear and the influence of the water depth of the chamber on the force of the locking mechanism under the condition of single driving point pressure holding failure of the locking mechanism,and study the force characteristic and action rule under different conditions,check the influence of ship lift chamber inclination on the force on locking mechanism by mathematical equation,and obtain the qualitative and quantitative variation rule of the force on the pinion gear under this research condition theoretically.The results show that the pressure maintenance failure of locking mechanism can cause the force change of the driving mechanism for chamber.The influence of ship chamber inclination on the allowable unbalance loading water depth of locking mechanism is small.

      Abstract:In view of the complex construction technology for maintenance of ship lock gate,the synchronous lifting device of mechanical hydraulic interlock was designed,whose structure principle and force status of the device were analyzed.The theoretical strength of the main load-bearing parts of the device,the screw piston rod and the safety tooth nut,were checked by the method of analytical calculation and finite element analysis,and the device was analyzed under the limit condition of the load falling by gravity based on the Ansys software.The results showed that theoretical strength of the device could meet the requirements,and the maximum equivalent stress in local area of the finite element analysis was close to the material yield limit.Combined with the analysis results and the structural characteristics of the device,the improvement suggestions were put forward to further optimize the design of the device.
