      Abstract:Aiming at the problem of ultrasonic thickness measurement accuracy,this paper analyzes the recognition and calculation method of ultrasonic echo time difference,and proposes a method based on least squares polynomial fitting to extract the peak of correlation coefficient.The method considers the calculation accuracy and computational complexity of the echo time difference,and obtains a more accurate time difference calculation value.The method is applied to the measurement of the thickness of the base metal of the second-line ship lock miter gate of the second phase of Xiangjiang second-class channel,thus the measurement results are accurate and reliable,and provide accurate data support for the quality control of metal structures such as herringbone gates.

      Abstract:The risk factors in the construction of ship lock project are often complex and diverse.In particular,the construction of Zhuzhou second-line ship lock approach channel foundation pit excavation is facing the characteristics of being close to the original first-line ship lock and the tight schedule caused by flood.In view of this situation,the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is combined with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method,and BIM technology is adopted to review the amount of earthwork excavation project in real time to make the risk evaluation process more objective.Fuzzy evaluation risk assessment results show that the foundation pit excavation of the approach channel of Zhuzhou second-line ship lock is of great risk,and the main risk factors are:engineering environmental risk> site management risk> construction risk> technical factor risk> organization and management risk.The evaluation results can be used as a reference for engineering practice and have certain reference value for the risk control of ship lock project construction.

      Abstract:The current criterion takes the navigable flow condition of the entrance area of the ship lock approach channel as the discriminative standard of the ship accessing safety.Through investigation and research,it is not comprehensive to consider only the navigation flow condition in the entrance area,but also the movement characteristics of the ship in the area.Based on the momentum conservation law,considering the effect of the flow on the ship,we analyze the characteristics of the movement of a ship for the maintenance of safety,research the relationship of the flow conditions and ship navigation conditions by their model tests,and propose a method to determine the safe navigation conditions of ships in the entrance area of the lock based on momentum conservation law.The results show that it is reasonable and feasible to judge the navigation safety of the ship in the port area based on the minimum critical velocity calculated from the test results of flow conditions.

      Abstract:Ship large-scale may have advantages and disadvantages on increasing of passing capacity of lock node,so we study the dynamic and quantitative influence of ship large-scale on ship lock’s passing capacity.By the ship lock numerical displacement model based on the actual rules,we calculate the changes of key indexes of the ship lock’s passing capacity combined with the established large ship development trend sequence,such as the load mass,number of ships and the area utilization ratio of the lock chamber,etc.The results show that the ship large-scale has not all positive effects on the improvement of lockage capacity,and there is a trend of overall growth and partial decline.The combination of standardization and large scale is an effective strategy to improve the passing capacity.

      Abstract:Taking the deep foundation pit slope of second-line ship lock for Dayuandu navigation-power junction as an example,combined with the saturated-unsaturated theory, this paper establishes a two-dimensional numerical model by seepw module and slopew module in the finite element software Geo-Studio to analyze the seepage state of the slope under heavy rainfall,through which the change of variation of water content and pore water pressure inside the slop,the safety factor and the variation of the slip surface are obtained.The results show that with the increase of rainfall duration,the slope moisture content increase gradually,the rainwater continues to infiltrate into the deeper soil,the groundwater level rises continuously,the matrix suction gradually dissipates,the surface of the slop forms a transient saturation zone,and the safety factor decreases.After the rainfall stopped,the water gradually flowed out of the slop,the water content gradually decreased,the underground water level decreased gradually,and the positive hole pressure decreased,the matrix suction gradually recovered,and the safety factor increased gradually.Rainfall infiltration has a great influence on the shallow soil of the slope,has little effect on the deep soil,and forms shallow damage generally.

    • Influence of compaction conditions and fines content on seismic stability of compacted backfill soils

      Abstract:To further study comprehensive effect of compaction conditions and fines content on soil seismic stability characteristics,a series of cyclic loading tri-axial tests were carried out on soils with different gradations.The influence rules and corresponding mechanism of moisture content,dry density and saturation on undrained dynamic strength were discussed.The discrepancy of dynamic strength characteristics caused by fines content difference was analyzed.And a equation with compaction degree and saturation degree as independent variables was introduced to quantitative express dynamic strength.The results show that under a certain compaction energy,soil with the highest dry density does not necessarily have the greatest undrained dynamic strength.For the soil with high fines content,dynamic strength is determined by both compaction degree and saturation,while for the soil with low fines content,dynamic strength is only affected by compaction degree.The undrained dynamic strength of compacted soil can be estimated by equation without knowing compaction curve.This method is useful for seismic stability evaluation.

      Abstract:The stone blasting quantities in the foundation pit of Zhuzhou second ship lock are 915 thousand m3.The first-line ship lock and Beijing to Guangzhou Railway are respectively operated on the east and west sides.A large number of houses are distributed nearby,and the bridge piers across the first ship lock are located in the blasting range.In view of the problems of many buildings around the stone blasting site,abundant groundwater and development of faults,we research the control technology of rock blasting.By using trench blasting,drilling dense holes,buffer holes,PVC casing and other technologies,the first lock and the Beijing to Guangzhou Railway all operate safely,and the piers of the first lock and nearby houses are effectively protected.The rock blasting control technology of this project can provide certain reference for the similar expansion lock rock blasting construction.

      Abstract:The existing first line lock of Dayuandu navigation and hydropower project cannot meet the shipping requirements,and the second line lock should be built on the side.The hydraulic system of the first lock has some problems,such as large pressure loss,slow dynamic response,low efficiency,and limited automation.To achieve high efficiency,high dynamic response,energy saving,safety and full automatic control,we adopt pump control and optimize the synchronization control strategy on the second lock’s hydraulic control system.The miter gate satisfies the performance requirements of the moving conditions.The reasonability and innovation of the hydraulic system are proved by the experimental results.

      Abstract:The lowest navigable water level in the upstream design is one of the key technical parameters for ship lock construction,which directly affects the performance,investment and duration of the lock.In the light of the value of the lowest navigable water level in the upper reaches of the built ship expansion project,we analyze the actual minimum operating water level and the guaranteed level water level according to the measured water level of the Zhuzhou junction,and discuss the investment situation of the second-line lock project,the operation situation of the first-line lock and the connection of the water level between the channelized cascades under different characteristic water levels.The conclusion is drawn that the lowest navigable water level of the upper design of Zhuzhou second-line lock should be 38.3 m by means of model test verification and investment comparison.The research method can be used as reference for the lock expansion project in the mountainous and hilly areas.

      Abstract:To eliminate the adverse effects of the dam on fish,improve the habitat environment of fish in the river basin and restore the diversity and stability of fish resources,it is necessary to design fishing facilities scientifically to provide migration passages for fish.Diaphragm plate fishway,as a commonly used type of fishing facilities,has the advantages of energy conservation,stable structure,less land occupation,continuous passing,etc.However,it is difficult to design because of its complex structure.Combining with referring to the research results of fishway design abroad and the practical experience of similar projects in China,taking the fishway of Zhuzhou junction engineering as the background,we elaborate the key points of general layout design of diaphragm plate fishway,including the selection of important parameters such as the operating water stages,design discharge velocity and groove design,which can provide references for similar projects.

      Abstract:Based on enlarged fishway construction of Dayuandu navigation & hydropower complex in Xiangjiang River,we discuss several design problems that should be considered in enlarged fishway construction on constructing or constructed navigation & hydropower complex.The thoughts and methods to determine the fish migrating objects and time,the operation water levels,elevations of fishway inlet and outlet,the fishway design velocity,the fishway structure type,and the layout of fishway entrance and outlet have been analyzed emphatically.Analyses show that four famous domestic fishes are the mainly fish migrating objects in Xiangjiang river;the design velocity of fishway is 0.2~1.3 ms,which is more favorable for fish migrating;the key to the fishway design is the layout of the inlet,thus,proper consideration of attracting fish can enhance the effect of fish migrating;the fishway project should be considered in conjunction with enlarged lock construction.This paper summarizes the experience of fishway design under limited factors such as actual topography and existing buildings,which can have some reference significance for similar projects.

      Abstract:The low-head runoff type power stations are often non-regulating reservoirs.To control the flooded line in the reservoir area,during the flood period the hub is always run by pre-empting the storage capacity.Affected by the flood discharge and duration,the operation low water level of the hub has great changes during different periods,which makes the determination of the ship lock’s lowest navigable water level complicated.Taking the second-line shiplock project of Dayudayu navigation power hub in Xiangjiang River for example,adopting the synthetic diachronic curve method and instantaneous water level duration & times,and combining with actual navigation conditions of river sections,we determined ship the lock’s lowest navigation level.The method may serve as reference for the determination of the lowest navigable water level of ship locks.

      Abstract:The mitre gate of Zhuzhou second ship lock is a super-large gate.The deformation control of the gate is a key and difficult point in the design.The lock hoist is centrally arranged on the upper part of the lock head,and the convenience of hoisting and maintenance should be fully considered.The structure of the gate is arranged by various schemes,and the structural calculations are carried out separately.The ability of the structure itself to resist deformation is emphatically studied,and the accessory of the gate is optimized.The hoist is arranged by two schemes,and the advantages and disadvantages are compared,the factors such as lifting,overhaul,passage and beauty are mainly considered.The results show that the stiffness of the main beam+eight partitions+horizontal secondary beam of the gate is the best,and the protection system and the pedestrian bridge are more reasonable after optimizing design.The hoist is arranged with the scheme of empty box structure+lifting hole electric cover plate,which achieves convenient lifting,overhaul and access.

      Abstract:The influence of hub operation scheduling and sand mining should be considered in layout of the ship lock anchorage in canalized waterway.In view of this situation,the design problems such as complicated flow conditions,thin bed cover and difficult anchorage site selection are discussed.Taking the anchorage layout of Dayuandu lock and Zhuzhou lock of Xiangjiang River as an example,this paper puts forward the anchorage layout mode of combining self-anchored anchorage with low-water anchorage throughout the year,with self-anchored anchorage as the main method and dependent anchorage as the auxiliary method.Based on the investigation of the ship,the minimum thickness of the self-anchored area is proposed,and a scheme combining the self-anchored area for flood and the anchorage area for dry water is put forward,which solves the problems of thin overburden of the self-anchored area downstream of the lock and high cost of the anchorage area along the shore.

      Abstract:In view of the technical problem in structure selection of fishway groove neighboring the lock,we put forward the design technical route for the expansion of the fishway closely neighboring the lock in the existed navigation & hydropower complex.Based on the fishway expansion engineering of Dayuandu navigation & hydropower complex in the Xiangjiang River,the integrated structure which includes the fishway groove and lock is considered,and the fishway structure is arranged closely to the main structure of the second-line lock.The open-type U section or culvert-arch-type section for the fishway groove is selected according to the location of the fishway in the lock.By the scheme,we not only solve the problem of expanding the fishway in the existed navigation & hydropower complex,but also greatly reduce the land consumption and project investment.

      Abstract:About the structural deformation and internal force characteristics of double-row piles in high retaining soil environment,we apply the numerical calculation and engineering observation methods,and analyze the deformation and force patterns of structures at different pile paths and different excavation depths.The results show that the maximum displacement of the front row piles with different excavation depths presents a secondary parabola when the pile spacing is taken 3 times the diameter of the pile.The internal force of the front pile presents the force characteristics of the single anchor board pile and the internal force of the rear pile presents the force characteristics of the cantilever board pile.The deformation and internal force of the structure can be controlled effectively by setting the unloading plate and using the material backfill with high shear strength.

    • Layout plan and flow condition of Zhuzhou second-lane lock’s navigable channel

      Abstract:Aiming at the problem of mutual influence between Zhuzhou first-lane lock and second-lane lock approach channel,we analyze the selection process of plane layout scheme and recommend the layout scheme of straight in and curved out.To counter the large velocity and recirculating zone at the end of the upstream dike,we put forward the layout measures of extending the excavation depth of the second-lane lock’s approach channel to the upstream by 60.0 m and installing pervious piers at the end of the dike.The analyzing result of the approach channel’s flow condition based on the model experiment reveals that the maximum instantaneous reverse water head (0.389 m) near the miter gate of the lower lock head of the first-lane lock is larger when the second-lane lock is discharged,exceeding the allowable value of specification (0.25 m).The improvement measures of installing locking device in the design of miter gate opening and closing system and strengthening observation during operation and management are put forward.

      Abstract:The pile-based gravity support structure consists of a gravity chest wall and a double-row pile,is a semi-rigid semi-flexible support structure.For the design of the structure,the relevant unit reference specification uses the plane steel frame elastic fulcrum method to calculate the lower double-row pile,at the same time the upper chest wall is simplified as the cantilever beam for calculation.But the mechanical characteristics and the constraints on double-row piles are different from that of the cantilever beam because the chest wall is rigid body.In order to systematically study the deformation and internal force distribution characteristics of the structure in different calculation models,the normalized design and the calculation results of the solid model are compared.The results show that:according to the relevant specifications,the upper chest wall produces linear displacement,and the bending moment and shearing force of the rear pile are larger than that of the front pile;in the solid calculation model,the upper chest wall has a translational displacement pattern,so the bending moment and shear force of the front pile are greater than those of the back pile because the foundation pit excavation is affected by the main earth pressure difference.

      Abstract:Aiming at the technical difficulties such as high retaining wall of expanded lock near the original first-line lock building,strict deformation requirements,complex construction conditions,and building lock cofferdam during the construction period,through comparison and selection,the form of double row piles structure with chest wall was proposed,and its mechanical characteristics were analyzed by finite element method.The monitoring results show that compared with the traditional structure,the stress and deformation of the pile body of the structure are relatively small,which can guarantee the safety of the existing buildings nearby,and has the popularization value in projects with similar boundary conditions.

      Abstract:For hydro-junction with constructed ship lock,constructing second lock can greatly improve the lock capacity.Being affected and restricted by topography,river regime and the constructed hydraulic structures,the outer boundary condition of the expanded ship lock,especially the navigable flow condition of the entrance area,is usually complex.Taking the second ship lock project of Dayuandu navigation-power junction as an example,we study the layout and improving measures of the entrance area of the expanded ship lock under complex condition,and propose a scheme combining the engineering measures and the control measures. The scheme can solve the entrance area problem and save a lot project investment while meeting the demands of ship lock operation.The research result can provide reference for similar projects.

      Abstract:In order to explore the flow conditions of the approach channel shared by different levels of ship locks,we take Dayuandu double ship locks as an example,and use the method of combining 2-D flow mathematical model and physical model test to analyze the flow pattern,velocity distribution and unsteady flow characteristics of ship locks when delivering water in the case of different levels of ship locks are sharing the upstream and downstream approach channels.The results show that the layout of the common approach channel of the first and second locks of Dayuandu is feasible.The improvement measures for unfavorable water flow conditions in low probability conditions are proposed.The results of this paper can provide reference for similar ship lock projects.

      Abstract:Aiming at the prestressing problem and vibration problem of the miter gate of the lower head of Dayuandu second-line ship lock,we carry out the three-dimensional finite element static and dynamic calculations,give multiple sets of solutions of the optimized model,and obtain the optimal prestress of the back tie rod and the value of the natural vibration frequency of the gate.The analysis results show that the structural stress is less than the allowable value of the material.The lateral and vertical deformations of the lower corner of the door body’s slanted column and the lateral deformation of the midpoint of the door shaft column meet the requirements.A technical support is provided for the prestressed construction of the back tie rod and the frequent vibration of the miter gate during operation.

    • Influence of water level change on stability of foundation pit slope near river

      Abstract:Seepage action has a great influence on the stability of foundation pit slope near river,and has important guiding significance for engineering design and construction.In order to further study the influence of seepage on the stability of foundation pit slope,we use the finite element technology to analyze a foundation pit slope of expansion second ship lock in Hunan Province,adopt the combination of seepage and strength reduction method to acquire the distribution characteristics of pore water pressure,analyze the river level variation’s influence on slope stress and deformation,and discuss the evolving rules of slope safety factor.The results show that the rise and fall of river level only has significant impact on the first-level slope.With the increase of river level,the slope safety factor gradually decreases,and the safety factor keeps higher than specification required value when river level is in the range from 37 m to 45 m.

      Abstract:In view of the large volume of concrete for the head of high-head ship lock and the arrangement of various structures such as buried parts,holes and corridors,the severe changes of temperature stress and structure which are liable to cause concrete cracking,and combining with the construction of Zhuzhou second-line ship lock head,we carry out a research on key technologies such as the mix proportion design,temperature control measures,as well as the retarded mortar and mass concrete pouring.Adopting the method of three mixing and laying retarded mortar between layers,and combining with appropriate temperature control measures,no temperature cracks or interlayer seepage occur at the lock head.Based on the implementation of this project,we summarize the technical achievements of preventing temperature cracks and interlayer cracks in mass concrete construction of lock head,which may serve as reference for similar ship lock construction.

      Abstract:Dayuandu second-line ship lock is adjacent to the structure of the existed junction.Since the geologic condition is complicated and there is a stronger aquifer in the soil layer,problems such as leakage of the dam foundation and abutment possibly occurs,thus the design and construction are difficult technically.Probing into the design idea and construction quality control of the anti-seepage system,we propose to analyze the anti-seepage system from the two angles including plane sealing and section sealing,and take feasible measures on the lap part of high-pressure spraying and curtain grouting.After completion of the construction,both the water pressure test and core sampling test prove to meet the specifications.The anti-seepage measures and inspection methods of high-pressure spraying and curtain grouting used in this project may serve as reference for similar projects.

      Abstract:Aiming at the leakage problem of the foundation pit of the second-line ship lock of Zhuzhou Navigation-Hydropower Junction,based on the observation and inspection work of the foundation pit on site,we analyze the cause of the leakage.According to the aquifer medium and their distribution characteristics,the type of foundation seepage is categorized.Through the observation of seepage flow and seepage deformation,the seepage characteristics and the influence on the foundation pit engineering of each seepage type are analyzed.Based on the influence degree of seepage on the foundation pit engineering,and referring to the design and construction experience of the first-line ship lock,different treatment measures are taken to meet the requirements of slope stability of the foundation pit and bearing capacity and settlement of the foundation.The work ideas for identification of hydrogeological conditions in the engineering geological survey could be referred by the inland ship lock project.

      Abstract:In order to study the influence of ship lock deep foundation pit excavation in the stress of bridge pile on the slope,the geotechnical centrifuge model test was carried out.The results showed that the deeper the foundation pit excavation was,the greater the difference of soil pressure between the two sides of the pile was,and the horizontal displacement of pile top also increased.ABAQUS finite element software was used for numerical simulation analysis,and the calculation results showed that the horizontal displacement of the bridge pile towards the direction of the foundation pit was generated in the excavation process.The tensile force of the right pile was becoming more and more obvious,and the pile stress and bending moment were becoming larger and larger.The maximum tensile stress reached 3.61 MPa,which was greater than the standard tensile strength of pile concrete.Upper soil mass on the right side of the excavated pile was pressed at the foot of the slope,and the reinforcement measures of pile row support were taken.Good reinforcement effect was obtained.

      Abstract:The traditional two-dimensional drawings in the water transport engineering design can not realize direct statistics of the engineering quantity and guidance of the construction,but by adopting the BIM technology,we can realize the collaborative sharing,collision check and engineering quantity statistics,and the information integration with the BIM model can be applied to all stages of cost management.Using the BIM technology and modeling in the second-line ship lock in the Dayuandu navigation and hydropower project in the second phase of the Xiangjiang River second-class channel,and reviewing the engineering quantity by the BIM technology,the cost engineers can get rid of the tedious work of the calculation.It has great social value for the comprehensive management of cost of water transport engineering projects.

      Abstract:Aiming at the characteristics of design,construction and operation in the whole life cycle of ship lock metal structure,combining with some large ship locks along the Xiangjiang River as examples like the Dayuandu second ship lock,we explore and discuss the scheme design,calculation analysis,optimization design,construction drawing design,visual technical disclosure,construction visual guide,on-site installation construction simulation,accurate cost data measure,operations data management,3D guidance and learning management and facilities maintenance management based on BIM technology.The results show that during the whole life cycle of the ship lock metal structure,BIM technology can realize the share and full utilization of data and information,which has extensive application value to improve the informatization level of design,construction,operation and maintenance management,reduce cost,improve efficiency and quality,and enhance enterprise competitiveness.
