      Abstract:The 12.5 m deep navigation channel of the Yangtze River from Nanjing to the Yangtze Estuary is a very important project to elevate the traffic capacity of the river and make the best of the Golden Waterway.It is important to study the influence of its building up on the economic development of Jiangsu province along the river.A model is developed on the basis of system dynamics for the influence of the Yangtze River deepwater navigation channel upon economy along the river.In accordance with the“6-in-1 theory of port,waterway,ships,cargos,information and finance”,the model consists of modules of economy along the river,ports,navigation channel & shorelines,financial investment and population.The model is improved by bringing in the unidirectional heat conduction and entropy increase of the Second Law of Thermodynamics.The result shows a better agreement with the real situation.It could be used to predict the relationship between the navigation channels of long inland rivers and economic development along them.

      Abstract:The ripples under the action of waves are prevalent in the offshore area.The accurate prediction of the ripple characteristics and bottom friction factors is the foundation of the research on the wave deformation,sediment transport and the evolution of shoreline.The formulas commonly used for the calculation of the wave-induced ripples are analyzed and evaluated by using the published experimental data from the laboratory experiment and the field observation.The coordinated property of the bed form and the flow condition is considered,and a new prediction method is proposed to calculate the ripple equilibrium geometry such as length,height and steepness.The discriminant function including the wave critical Shields parameters is introduced to take the effect of the bed load transport into account.The formula of wave friction factor is derived theoretically,and the estimation of roughness height is improved by the sand ripples formulas.The results show that the proposed formulas can give a better description of the ripple geometrical characteristics when the bed load sediment move in different state.The critical Shields parameters influence greatly on the calculation ripple geometry.Moreover,the new ripple prediction can be used to calculate bottom friction factors efficiently.

      Abstract:According to the virtual work principle for the static analysis of the reinforced concrete(RC)beam,the differential equations and their boundary conditions governing the static response are derived,taking into account the nonlinear properties of the rebar and concrete and the shearing deformation of the beam body.Subsequently,a nonlinear boundary value problem composed of 6 first order ordinary differential equations is obtained,thus,the static behavior of the RC beam is studied using the nonlinear shooting method,and the responses of displacements and bending moment of the RC beam are obtained.At the end,via the comparisons of results generated by Timoshenko and Euler-Bernoulli beam models,the correctness of the analysis is verified,and the shear effect of the RC beam is parametrically studied.Besides,the bending moment modulation coefficient of the nonlinear RC beam is gained,and the crack zone of the RC beam are obtained through the normal stress analysis.

      Abstract:In order to study the effect of whole temperature difference on pile internal force after the completion of high-piled wharf,a three-dimensional finite element model is established to analyze the temperature deformation law combined with engineering examples.It is considered that the temperature deformation constraints of the oblique pile and vertical pile on the upper platform can be neglected.The platform is in a free temperature deformation state with temperature divergence center whose horizontal displacement is zero.Based on the free temperature deformation law for rigid platform,a three-dimensional algorithm has been proposed on the basis of the translational torsion for inclined pile terminals.The calculated displacement of the top of the pile is close to that of the FEM.For all straight pile or nearly symmetrical inclined pile terminal,it can also be simplified as a two-dimensional translation algorithm.The simplified formulas of the internal forces for the vertical pile and the inclined pile are given.The axial force and bending moment of the pile are proportional to its quadratic and quadruplicate pile diameter and the influence of pile diameter on internal force caused by temperature difference is significant.

      Abstract:The consistency and difference of load combinations for the marine structures in Chinese and British codes are studied in detail.It is shown that the slightly differences of load combination among the Chinese codes exist,while that of BS 6349 is inherently consistent with Eurocodes well.Finally,a real port project is provided that the amount of main rebar for bored pile under the load combinations in the Chinese code is 20% higher than British standard.

      Abstract:To solve the problem of Weifang Harbor general plan,numerical model is used to study comparison of project schemes.MIKE 21 software is applied to set up 2D tidal current and sediment numerical models about the Weifang Harbor sea area.Numerical simulations of current,topography changes and channel siltation are carried out to compare all planning schemes.The results show that current and topography don’t change obviously after each scheme.The channel deposition is the key factor to select the scheme.Unitary schemes are obviously superior to separated ones.The scheme with offshore breakwater is not suggested at present.

      Abstract:Using Wallops spectrum simulation of random wave in Luchao harbor,we determine the horizontal wave force of the upper structure of penetrated breakwater and pile foundation and uplift force,and derive and calculate the power spectrum value under one-in-100-year extreme wave condition.Based on the basic principle of finite element and dynamic response and using finite element software ANSYS,we carry out numerical simulation on the penetrated breakwater.From the static analysis,modal analysis and power spectral density analysis,we compare the results of breakwaters in bilateral and unilateral stress forces,and obtain the rationality of bilateral-wave-board piled permeable breakwater structure.Analyzing the hidden danger,and combining the differences of the static and dynamic calculation results,we may provide reference for the design.

      Abstract:Due to the particularity of working conditions of the port revetment lining and oneness of material used,the revetment engineering is often destroyed because of the action of external load.Based on the new material research,combined superior adaptive performance of flexible cement concrete material with mechanical characteristics of revetment structure,this paper puts forward a new type of revetment lining structure which introduces flexible cement concrete(FCC)port revetment engineering.When the above layer(FCC)thickness is certain,and the lower layer(PCC)thickness changes,the change trend of stress-strain of centre of layers is contrasted through numerical simulation application example.The results show that the flexible cement concrete(FCC)revetment can meet the requirements of bank protection lining,and change trend of stress-strain is small under the action of external load,and PCC is a practical means of revetment lining.

      Abstract:Through the investigation and research on the structural type of the slope protection project and the staple acupuncture non-woven geotextiles in the Jingjiang section of the Yangtze River,this paper analyzes the potential clogging problems of non-woven fabrics in the filter layer and its effect on slope stability.The geosynthetics clogging tester is developed to carry out a series of non-woven clogging test,which is under the working conditions of simulated field.The effects of hydraulic gradient,sand thickness,sand fineness modulus,soil type and non-woven pore size on the clogging of non-woven fabrics are analyzed.The influence rules of factors of non-woven fabric clogging are discussed.

      Abstract:The influence of channel excavation on wave propagation in the channel area is significant.Based on the method of wave physical model test,we study the wave propagation law in the channel area after the channel excavation.The result shows that the maximum ratio of the measured wave height to the original incident wave height on the wave approach side is inversely proportional to the wave incident angle,and the minimum ratio of the measured wave height to the original incident wave height on the wave back side is inversely proportional to the wave incident angle.When the wave is of small incident angle,the channel has a strong refraction effect on the wave,and the wave energy attenuation in the channel is also large.Besides,when the incident angle is large,the channel has a weak refraction effect on the wave,the ability of wave’s passing through the channel is strong,and the ratio of the measured wave height to the original incident wave height on the wave approach side is proportional to the spectrum peak period.The smaller the water depth within the channel,the stronger the channel’s refraction effect on the wave,and the greater the wave energy concentration on the wave approach side.

      Abstract:Based on the design data and construction experience of CSSC Changxing shipbuilding base,we establish a 2D finite element model to analyze the influential factors for deformation during excavation of dock foundation pit.The result shows that choosing exposure effect and taking the foundation of both bed plate and corridor bottom of the dock are necessary in this model,and pre-adding tension force of the bar is beneficial to controlling of anchorage’s structural deformation.

      Abstract:The inland transportation of grain has multiple problems such as low efficiency and high consumption,and it is difficult to guarantee the quality of the grain.The Yangtze River golden waterway is an important channel of inland water transportation of grain,therefore,it is particularly urgent to maximizing advantages of the Yangtze River waterway’s large transportation capacity,low energy consumption and low cost.The Mississippi River is the main artery of American shipping,with a freight traffic of more than 10 million tons per year,and about half of the American export grain is transported across the Mississippi River.High efficiency and low cost of transportation of the Mississippi River greatly raises the competitiveness of American food in the international market.Based on the comparative analysis in three aspects including waterway,shipping vessel and ship type,we may provide reference for the grain transportation in the Yangtze River golden waterway.

      Abstract:Ship-type standardization is an effective way to improve the traffic capacity of the Three Gorges ship lock.This paper studies the quantitative effect of standard ship rate on traffic capacity of ship lock.The paper sets up a simulation model to study the traffic capacity in different standard ship rates based on the process of ships passing through the Three Gorges ship lock.The simulation results show that the simulation model can well simulate the process of ships passing through the Three Gorges ship lock,and the benefit of standard ships in prompting the efficiency of the ship lock will multiply when the standard ship rate is more than 90%.Compared with the traffic capacity of the ship lock,the increase of the standard ship rate can improve the quality of ship service remarkably.

      Abstract:The flow regime in energy dissipation zone is very complex in expansion and renovation projects of the high-head locks,which is related to the pulsating pressure,impact pressure,etc.It is emphasized that the influences of flow regime near the cofferdams with its layout pattern on its coefficients of sliding and pour resistance.Hydraulic calculation method of the pulsating pressure and the couple are presented,and it is used for estimating the security and stability of the earth-rock cofferdam in the Fuchunjiang lock expansion and renovation project.the pulsating pressure and impact pressure on the caisson overtop cofferdam are analyzed,and the coefficients of sliding and pour resistance are provided.

      Abstract:In order to study the lateral seepage characteristics of the New Xiagang double-lane ship lock chamber under the condition of a non-homogeneous layered ground and several piles,two-dimensional seepage model with ABAQUS finite element software is built.The seepage stability during the period of running and maintenance is checked,and reasonable scheme for seepage-proofing and depressurization is raised.The results show that seepage equipotential lines refract at the junction in the soil which relates to the relative ratio of permeability coefficient.The laminar flow is obvious at the silty sand layer behind the sidewall.In the most dangerous condition of maintenance,soil flow destruction occurs on the outlet section in lock chamber.Impervious walls are only set behind the sidewall and the intermediate lock wall,the lock chamber is in the critical state of soil flow destruction.Adding the vertical tube for depressurization on the outlet section,the seepage stability can be improved efficiently.The flow direction along the side pile may change because the head along the pile may increase progressively after decrease progressively.Local detour flow occurs in the intermediate lock wall,and hydrostatic section account for most.A great water level difference occurs after setting impervious walls.

      Abstract:There are lots of gravel shoals in upper course of the Yangtze River.Most of these gravel shoals hindered the passing of ships.The formation conditions and the navigation-obstructing characteristics of gravel shoals are discussed which provides more basic theories and information for regulation measurement.Based on the analysis of formation and evolution of gravel shoal,the research deduces the criterions of formation of gravel shoals through the mechanism of sediment incipient.The result shows that the gravel shoal can be formed in a certain range on both of channel slope and channel width.The formula verified by a large amount of field data and experimental data.

    • Seismic response of piles structure in saturated soil foundation

      Abstract:Through the developed FEM model of pile-soil coupled system with two-phase saturated soil foundation,the seismic simulation of a saturated free field and a pile structure are carried out in this paper.The results indicate that the distribution of excess pore water pressure shows exponential attenuation pattern from ground surface,the soil near the ground surface more tends to be liquefied and loses bearing capacity.Along with the rising of excess pore water pressure and the corresponding degradation of soil strength,the saturated free field shows obvious selective filtering of the high-frequency components in earthquake wave.In the seismic response of pile structure,owing to the coupled pile-soil interaction,the surrounding soil more tends to be liquefied.The decrease of foundation’s bearing capacity leads to larger seismic response and bending moments of structure piles.The conclusions derived in this paper agree with practical engineering experiences,and the numerical method and conclusions could provide some guidance for seismic design of structures in liquefiable saturated soil foundation.

      Abstract:For the ultra soft clay characterized by high moisture content,low strength,compressibility and low permeability,the conventional method of soft foundation reinforcement,which combined vacuum electroosmotic and low energy dynamic compaction,is prone to form rubber soil.Therefore,the dynamic compaction replaced by vibration rolling is suggested,and the laboratory tests of vacuum electroosmotic drainage with and without vibration rolling are carried out.The result shows that the vibration rolling can increase the difference of the water head in the soil and improve velocity of the vacuum electroosmotic drainage;the soil fissure caused by electroosmosis can be closed by the vibration rolling,which increases the current and keeps the vacuum degree of the soil;the vibration rolling can hasten the rate of consolidation and reduce the energy consumption also.This new method is necessary to be verified in the engineering practice.

      Abstract:By numerical simulation,we compare pile test results and simulation results and verify the applicability of the calculation model,calculate the distribution of internal force and displacement of pile under different load levels to analyze the stability of pile,analyze the stress state of the soil to study the disturbance of the horizontal load to the soil.The research result shows that when the pile is subjected to long-term lateral loads,the pile will be subjected to continuous shearing action,and the integrity of pile should be tested regularly;under the horizontal loads,the soil around the pile is affected by the shear and tension.

      Abstract:To solve the problems of low ballast water level monitoring precision,discontinuous,and personal safety hidden trouble during large caisson’s shipment,we develop the large caisson water level monitoring system based on intelligent liquid level sensor to achieve the goal of safe and uninterrupted monitoring of caisson’s water level and provide reference for long-distance safe towing of large caissons.

      Abstract:On the issue that the traditional construction equipment such as pile driving barge,floating crane,jack-up,etc.can hardly satisfy the accuracy and schedule requirements of piling construction under the strong wave condition,this paper comprehensively applies the incremental launching construction method of bridges,and proposes the solution as the hydraulic movable platform based on the steel pipe pile construction of Q28 in Hadarom Port project in Ashdod,Israel.
