      Abstract:Because the traditional measuring method is not suitable for the layered settlement monitoring in soft soil foundation of the constructions under water,such as beach protection embankment project,the new type of measuring instrument and technique were proposed for the safety monitoring problem of layered settlement in soft soil foundation under water of Manyusha beach protection embankment project.To avoid interrupting the construction,keep instruments well running,and obtain the compression of soft soil foundation,new instruments were installed on site for the prototype monitoring test.According to the monitoring result analysis,the process rules of the layered settlement and compression of the soft soil foundation under water were obtained during construction and running.It showed that the soft soil foundation of the beach protection embankment under water was safe and stable.The feasibility and applicability of the new instrument and technique for the layered settlement monitoring in soft soil foundation of the constructions under water were tested and verified.

      Abstract:As a new type of energy dissipation and protection structure,the active hook is used for the first time in the first phase of the Yangtze River deepwater channel project.This paper studies the characteristics of deceleration and accretion promotion by the movable bed and erosion experiment and analyzes the observation data before and after the project implementation.Experimental and observational results show that sediment deposition is obvious within the scope of protection and the structure is able to cover a certain range of its surroundings.

      Abstract:In view of the lack of detecting measures for deepwater laying of the soft mattress,this paper presents a new detecting technology,which integrates water-depth grid of multi-beam bathymetric system and sound & image data generated by the side-scan sonar,and uses the ultra-short baseline measuring system to verify the determined mattress coordinates after getting the mattress’s sinking and laying position.This technology has been applied to Phase II of 12.5 m waterway project of the Yangtze River downstream from Nanjing and improved the detection efficiency and quality of the project.

      Abstract:Combined with the instance of practical seawall protection project in Binhai sea area of North Jiangsu province,we explore the wave pressure on wave dissipation platform and seawall structure above the platform under the action of regular and irregular waves in the case of flexible hinged concrete slab mattress revetment and rigid concrete groove block revetment respectively through wave section physical model experiment,and compare the differences between them.The experimental results show that hinged concrete slab mattress revetment does better than concrete groove block revetment in reducing the wave energy and is more conducive to security and stability of seawall.Moreover,corresponding optimization and reinforcement methods for seawall with hinged concrete slab mattress revetment are put forward according to the analytical results of wave pressure.

      Abstract:This paper proposes a kind of engineering riprap quantity calculation method based on ground penetrating radar(GPR) detection.The method is described in detail step by step.In the meantime,an example of riprap quantity calculation is quoted in Lianyungang city,China.At last,calculation methods and characteristics of engineering riprap quantity are summarized.The advantages and limitations of calculating method based on GPR to detect the ripped-rock are analyzed,and the method for determining the relative dielectric constant and the consideration are put forward.

      Abstract:The CFD method is used to simulate the path curve and flow characteristic of bow-spray for trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD).The spray distance and flow characteristic under different bow-spray conditions are simulated.The numerical simulation results correspond with the construction ones.The results show that the numerical simulation method can accurately predict the path curve of the bow-spray on TSHD and provide reference basis for the construction.On this basis,influencing factors of the spray distance and path are analyzed.The results show that the spray distance of the 45 degree angle is further than that of the 30 degree angle,but it is beneficial to control the sedimentation and loss under the 30 degree angle.Therefore,the best effect can be achieved under the different conditions by adjusting the different injection angles.

      Abstract:The sudden siltation is one of the key issues in the construction of Lianyungang waterway.A 3D numerical model which contains modules of wind,wave,tide and sediment is established to simulate and study the wind wave,tide and sediment during Typhoon Wipha in Lianyungang sea area.The results are in high coincidence with the observed data.The variation of water level and the characteristics of spatial distribution of tide and sediment in the said waters during Typhoon Wipha are also analyzed herein.The model is then used to predict the siltation during the construction of Phase II Lianyungang waterway project in typhoon period.The result shows that the navigation obstruction due to sudden siltation would not occur in Lianyungang waterway under the impact of a strong wind like Typhoon Wipha.

      Abstract:Based on the collection data of position and concentration of pollution sources in spring,mainly considering the concentration level of DIN,DIP and chlorophyll-a,the current and water quality coupling numberical simulation was carried out.Taking into account baroclinic water,MIKE21 model was used before and after the Land-making Project in the Oujiang Estuary.The result shows that the project would not cause great changes to the hydrodynamic characteristics in Wenzhou Bay,but it would increase the current speed in the north area and decrease the current speed in the south area near the estuary.The salt distribution in the north area changes obviously while the amount of salinity increases near the north part of the estuary.Generally,Phrase I and Phrase II projects would not cause large scale changes to the seawater quality around,but it does have a certain effect on the local seawater quality.Nutrients and chlorophyll-a near the mouth of the estuary showed a rising trend and the eutrophication was aggravated.

      Abstract:The Guanhe River has wide shoals and excellent waterways,which is unique in the north Jiangsu Province that has no dam in its main stream.Estuarine flux is the key parameter in estuarine regulation and environment protection.In order to investigate the transport of salt and suspended sediment,the spatial distribution of salinity and suspended sediment and the temporal variation of spring-neap tide and intra-tide were discussed using a flux decomposition method on the basis of field data.The results show that the fluxes of salinity points to downstream in the shallow zones near the convex bank and to upstream in the channels near concave bank in the curve segments.The suspended sediment fluxes points to upstream near the left bank and to downstream near the right bank during the spring and neap tide.The directions of the flux of salinity are NNE-NE and changes slightly with different river discharge in outer zone.The suspended sediments are transported along WNW-NNE in remote area,while upstream at G2 near the river mouth.T1,T2and T4 are the dominate components of salinity and suspended sediment fluxes,and the characteristics of flux composition is similar between spring and neap tide.The direction of net suspended sediment flux is not always as same as the tidal velocity at maximum ebb or flood.Net upstream flux might be induced at maximum ebb due to sediment concentration is lower than its tidally-averaged value.

      Abstract:Hydraulic concrete structures underlie particular conditions all year round,so they have suffered from severe degradation.Contents of 0.6,1.6 and 2.6 kg·m3polypropylene fiber(PP fiber)and basalt fiber(BF)were added to the plain mortar(M0)respectively to prepare repair materials for hydraulic structures surfaces.The bond strength,abrasion resistance,water permeability and freeze-thaw resistance were tested and analyzed.Test results indicate that the addition of fiber improves the bond strength of mortar significantly.Compared with M0,the bond strength of PP fiber and BF reinforced mortar presents an increase of 16.60%~28.80% and 10.60%~21.40% respectively.Besides,the abrasion resistance,water permeability and freeze-thaw resistance are also enhanced due to the addition of fiber.The abrasion resistance strength of PP fiber and BF reinforced mortar are 77.30% and 38.65% more than M0 when the fiber content is 2.6 kg·m3.The field tensile strength test indicates that the tensile strength of these two kinds of fiber reinforced mortar is sufficient.With no increase in cost,fiber reinforced mortar is suitable to be used to repair hydraulic concrete surfaces.

      Abstract:A one-dimension hydrodynamic-salinity mathematical calculation model of the Pearl River networks is established.This model covers the entire river region,and it is verified with good results.Based on this model,analysis of the characteristics of saltwater intrusion in the Pearl River Delta in dry seasons of 2001 and 2005 has been carried out.The result indicates that the simulated 0.5 parts per thousand salinity isohaline in the Pearl River networks displays a shape similar to “S” and slanting to the right.The saltwater intrusion lengths of 2005 intruded far upstream at an average length of 32.4 km,which is almost twice longer than that in 2001.Four representative upstream flows are also simulated to analysis the response of the saltwater intrusion lengths to discharges.The result implies that when upstream average flows reduce by 0.5 times,saltwater intrusion lengths at the eight outlets increase by nearly 1 time.

      Abstract:Taking Changde Damen crane wharf (a variable stiffness frame wharf) project for example,we establish several frame wharf three-dimensional finite element models.After analyzing and researching the deformation characteristics of variable stiffness frame wharves under different working conditions that ship percussive horizontal force is impacted at different water levels,we compare different overall deformations of frame wharves with or without vertical diagonal bracing and horizontal diagonal racing,and optimize the frame wharf structure by setting vertical diagonal bracings without setting horizontal diagonal racings.The optimized structure not only decrease the overall deformation of the frame wharf under the complex load condition,but also strengthen the frame wharf structural integrity and structural reliability with a reasonable cost.

      Abstract:In order to ensure the safety of the port and adapt to the growth of the coastal port throughput as well as large-scale development of the ship,the upgrading and strengthening of the high piled wharf has become an inevitable trend.As a kind of new scheme,the dowel bar technology has been applied to upgrading and reconstruction for high-piled wharf.Combining with engineering examples,the dowel bar of upgrading technical features for high-piled wharf reinforcement,design calculation method and the corresponding construction technology is described;using professional software for the wharf modeling,the dowel bar reinforcement effect of high pile wharf is verified.The results show that the beams and internal force of pile have a certain degree of improvement.

      Abstract:Simulation models are established for the 100 000 DWT branch and the planning 200 000 DWT branch of Qinhuangdao port by SIMIO simulation software.The model is firstly verified by the data of berth number,waterway facilities and statistics of calling ships of Qinhuangdao port in 2014.Good correspondance between the modeled results and the statistics is obtained in terms of numbers of annual calling ships and the cargo throughput.By changing the average arrival interval of vessels,the variation tendency of the cargo throughput,the average waiting time(AWT)and the service level are investigated based on the simulation results.The variation tendency of the utilization of channel and the berths with the service level is discussed.Comparison is conducted between the results of cargo throughput of the 100 000 DWT branch by simulation model and prediction formula.The necessity is pointed out in terms of taking into account the service level of port and the correlativity among various operations inside a port.

      Abstract:Lianyungang port deepwater channel is the typical case of the deepwater channel of muddy shoal in open waters. Siltation law and practice show:The siltation intensity which accounts for about 60% of total annual siltation amount of middle wave day is the main part of the channel siltation.Due to obvious interannual variability of middle wave frequency,the range of siltation amount is large.Wave classification has not been considered by all existing siltation calculation mode.It is proposed innovatively that deepwater channel siltation prediction method for muddy shoal in open waters,which is“based on the siltation intensity of three generalized wave levels,gets the design siltation amount according to each wave level frequency.”The method can reasonably reflect the effect to siltation of year-round wave intensity and wave level frequency range in different years.And it significantly improves the forecast accuracy of design siltation amount.It provides a scientific basis for ensuring the deepwater channel siltation amount and range prediction,the channel stability and technical feasibility research.It had been verified by 250 000 DWT of Lianyun port waterway and 100 000 DWT of Xuwei port waterway engineering practice.The deviation between prediction and actual amount is less than 25%.

      Abstract:This paper analyzes estuary channel regulation projects at home and abroadand draws experience as follows.The regulation of big river estuary waterway is difficult and needs a long cycle.The regulation of mouth-bar channels is the key.Different estuarine hydrographic and sediment characteristics changes widely,so the regulation scheme needs to be appropriate.In the estuary channel regulation,the combination of regulation and dredging is widely used,and most of them are based on the renovation.Attentions shall be paid to the channel construction and comprehensive management of the estuary.The implications of Yangtze estuary waterway regulation are as follows.Regulation and dredging are combined in the Yangtze River estuary channel.It uses many means and program research to develop a reasonable plan.In the construction period of the project,field observation and dynamic management shall be strengthened.Practice shows that the regulation of the Yangtze estuary channel is quite difficult,so we must deepen the understanding on the estuary of water sediment movement,and keep innovation,so that we can achieve the desired objective.

      Abstract:Dongliu waterway is the typical multi-branch straight reach in the lower reach of the Yangtze River.It is the key navigation-obstruction waterway in the lower reach of the Yangtze River and the bottleneck of navigation improvement in the Yangtze “Golden Waterway”.Recently,experiencing the “west channel clogging,waterway adjustment and implementing the second phase of the regulation project,Dongliu waterway’s evolution appeares new changes and new trends.According to the latest measured data,this study analyzes the evolution characteristics and navigation obstructing characteristics,reveals the influential factors of channel change,establishes two dimensional mathematical model of water and sediment,and predicts the evolution trend of Dongliu waterway in the future.Based on that,the study proposes the main maintenance countermeasures and suggestions,which provides reference for the waterway maintenance and waterway regulation of the same kind.

      Abstract:This paper analyzes the influence on the functions for navigation,water diversion and drainage of Jiuweigang river caused by the construction of the proposed bridge by 2D numerical simulation model.The main conclusions are:1)The impact of the bridge construction on the navigable flow conditions would be minimal and the navigable clearance height would meet the demand,but the navigable clearance width wouldn’t meet the demand when the water level is low;2)More attention should be paid to the safety of the right bank of the river for the increasing flow velocity.The impact of the piers should be decreased by some optimized improvement measures.

      Abstract:Back tie rods are essential components of miter gate.In this paper,computing methods of non-prestressed back tie rods are compared to that of prestressed back tie rods in miter gate,and improvement measures of the non-prestressed back tie rods are given.By the finite element software,torsional stiffness of different structure types of miter gates is analyzed.The relationships of the control parameters of the gate deformation are pointed out,and the huge role prestressed back tie rods play in promoting the torsional stiffness and reducing the gate head drooping is confirmed.

      Abstract:The design of approach channel has great influence on general layout of locks.When a lock is constructed in rivers,the guard wall is arranged normally between the lock and weir or power house to guard the approach channel from the river flow,thus the favorable condition of water flow is formed.From the angle of guard wall layout,it is emphasized that the different criterions of the navigation flow conditions should be used for different locations of the entrance.The effects of covering the approach channel and reducing the crosscurrent are showed through analyzing the length and location of the guard wall.Then the different alternatives of layout of Shihutang lock are introduced.

    • Comparative test on vibroflotation without backfill and dynamic compaction for soft foundation treatment

      Abstract:Based on the foundation treatment practice of a large-scale project in the coastal region,we carry out a comparative test of vibroflotation backfill and dynamic compaction to soft foundation treatment.After construction,we take some in-situ test measures including monitoring of pore water pressure,standard penetration test,static cone penetration test and plate loading test to evaluate the pore water pressure changing,the bearing capacity of foundation and liquefaction of sand.Conclusions are drawn as follows:Firstly,the effect of vibroflotation without backfill method is unsatisfactory and unsuitable for the foundation treatment under the geotechnic condition of this project.Secondly,the dynamic compaction method has an obvious compaction effect on improving the geotechnical engineering properties of soil.The foundation bearing capacity is increased,and the possibility of sand liquefaction can be also eliminated.Thirdly,the reinforcement is greatly affected when soft soil interlayer exists below 10 m depth.Under that condition,the soil bearing capacity and compression modulus could not be improved.Finally,the reinforcement depth of 5 000 kN·m energy-level dynamic compaction is about 10 m.

      Abstract:运用大型有限元软件建立三维有限元模型,模拟钢板桩码头施工过程中板桩的桩身侧向位移、桩身土压力以及桩身弯矩的变化规律,从而了解施工过程中钢板桩的受力情况。研究结果表明:随着抛填施工的进行,板桩墙的侧向位移逐渐增大,呈两头小、中间大的侧移趋势;板桩墙侧土压力沿深度方向均呈缓慢的增大趋势,最大土压力为激活板桩墙及后侧回填土工序墙底部的152.1 kPa;板桩墙由于上端受拉杆约束、下端受土体嵌固作用,弯矩大体呈“S”。

      Abstract:This article analyzes the geologic condition,bearing capacity,settlement control,and foundation type,etc.of underground engineering(including underground pipe gallery and large commercial underground space)in soft soil area of Hengqin waterfront and recommends the foundation type of underground engineering and reasonable spacing of different soil depths in Hengqin area,based on which,the standardized document for the foundation design is formed and successfully applied to the engineering practice.By the scheme,we meet the general requirements of “safe and reliable structure,reasonable and controllable economy,and feasible engineering implementation” .

      Abstract:According to the service load on the bulk yard of east No.1 and No.2 berths of Dongwu port in Meizhou bay,this paper proposes a soft foundation treatment method by applying plastic drainage plate and preloading and backfill material compaction,along with the foundation reinforcement technology of backfill material compaction.Also,the dynamic monitoring of soft foundation is introduced to supervise the construction.Test results after the reinforcement process show a good effect of foundation treatment.

      Abstract:When the cast-in-situ cut & cover tube section at the west island of HZMB is joined with the prefabricated immersed tube in the sea floor,part of steel cylinder around the joint place must be dismantled.However,the west island is required to be satisfactory for the dry construction.Therefore secondary seep-proof screen shall be set inward the island.3-D CAD is used for the spatial simulation of the whole construction process of secondary seep-proof screen,by which we can probe into the weak points and optimize the design of the seep-proof screen.In this way,the seep-proof surface is ensured to be continuous,and the reliability of seep-proof screen is improved.A 3-D finite element software LUSAS is also used to analyze the stress and displacement of the secondary seep-proof screen.The data gained from the software match well with the measured values on site.

      Abstract:This paper introduced the basic principle of GPS-RTK three-dimensional multi-beam sounding survey of HZMB-CORS,and the key setting and operation in sounding data acquisition software QINSy,as well as the exportation and computation method of GPS-RTK tide in data post-processing software Caris.Contrasting with traditional multi-beam bathymetric survey method with tide gauge by sounding data collection experiment at site,we analyze the precision of GPS-RTK tide collected and the internally coincident precision as well as externally coincident precision.The result shows that GPS-RTK three-dimensional multi-beam sounding survey method has obviously improved working efficiency and reduced the work cost,and effectively improved the precision of multi-beam sounding survey and the stability of sounding data.

      Abstract:The steel sheet pile structure was adopted in Israel Ashdod port staging harbor. Since the anchor sheet pile construction was at the hydraulic reclamation area,the construction facilities faced a safety risk due to the ununiform soil pressure on both sides of the sheet pile and sand liquefaction,deviation occurred during restricking construction.Taking measures including controling the head of reclamation pipe,storing sand with temporary dam,and increasing reclamation area and reserving sheet pile deviation,etc.,we solved related problems concerning safety and technology,and ensured the construction schedule of the anchor sheet pile.

      Abstract:When lifting a reinforced concrete caisson,inserting and pulling pins are usually implemented by the manpower,and aerial & diving operation are needed,which is characterized by low efficiency and great danger.To simplify the construction,we design a new lifting point and sling which can fix and unhook by controlling the rigging hook and used in practice for more than 200 lifting operations.It is more efficient while reduces the risk and cost significantly.
