Abstract:In recent years,ports and harbours have been developing rapidly and riverside industrial zones booming alongside the Changjiang River in Jiangsu province,which poses new challenges for the main channel of the downstream Changjiang River.As a result,it is proposed to execute a channel regulation project in the Lower Reach of the Changjiang River downstream of Nanjing,to deepen the main channel of the said lower reach from 10.5 m to 12.5 m.There lie several branched waterways in some parts of the lower reach downstream of Nanjing.Therefore,the selection of the branch for the main channel will not only determine the overall pattern of the Changjiang deep-water channel,but also have a significant influence on port operations and development alongside the branched river reaches.Considering the requirements in technical feasibility,harbour suitability,traffic management,etc.,this paper presents some essential principles on the selection of branch for the main channel in a branched reach of a river.Fujiangsha reach is the only section of the lower reach which has three branches of waterways.Based on an analysis of the stability of its branches,this paper gives four potential categories of options for branch selection.Mathematical models and other methods are used to analyze their possible effects and influence to get one feasible option from each category of options respectively.Through demonstration in all aspects according to the proposed principles on the branch selection,two options,separately selected from “Fuzhong two-way” category of options and “Fubei one-way+Fuzhong one-way” category of options,are recommended for further analysis in the next stage.

Abstract:There are three channels which can be navigation paths in Fujiangsha river reach.However,they all don’t meet the scale requirement of 12.5 m deep waterway,so this river reach shall be regulated,and the selection of the channel as a navigable path is the primary task.In this research,effectiveness and impact of regulation in each channel is studied by means of tidal current and sediment physical model experiment.Based on the experiment,preliminary choice of the navigation path can be determined.The movable bed experiment shows that the south channel of Fujiangsha waterway can maintain 12.5 m deep after regulation,but one-way traffic is still hard to be satisfied and the effect in the entrance and middle of the channel is poorer.It’s difficult to realize two-way traffic in the north channel of Fujiangsha waterway because this channel is restricted by the cross-section of Rugao middle channel and there are too many navigation-impeding sections in this channel.So one-way traffic can be considered in the north channel at present.As to the middle channel of Fujiangsha waterway,the difficulty of regulation is relatively small because this channel is at the development stage now and the regulation has less effect on the surrounding environment.

Abstract:The stability of minor armor blocks are studied further based on two types of model tests.The minor armor blocks are positioned on the slope 1.5 times H13% under the MWL in test 1,and on the berm 1.5 times H13% under the MWL in test 2,with Hd=0.11~0.14 and Hd=0.09~0.11 respectively.It is found that the stability of armor blocks on the slope is better than that on the berm.Following conclusions are drawn from the tests:1)The stable weight of minor armor blocks on the slope 1.5 times H13% under the MWL is 13 of that of main armor blocks; 2) The stable weight of minor armor blocks on the berm 1.5 times H13% under the MWL is 0.9 of that of main armor blocks.

Abstract:This paper is the third part of a series review on the settling velocity of fine sediment in tidal environment.On the basis of the afore-mentioned contexts and related literatures,the influential factor of determining the settling velocity is analyzed.The findings of this review are as follows:1) Suspended sediment concentration (SSC) is taken as one of the major determinants for the settling process of fine sediment.When SSC is in a small range,the settling velocity is increasing with SSC,but it will fall down with SSC when the magnitude of SSC is over a greater value;2) The dependency of temperature on the settling velocity needs more attention in the future,and the salinity has significant contribution to the settling velocity; 3) SSC,temperature and salinity all manifest their influences on the settling velocity to different extents.The dependency between SV of estuarine fine sediments and its various determinants (SSC,salinity,temperature,etc.) rely highly on some given conditions.

Abstract:To determine the probability distribution and corresponding statistical parameters of irregular wave loads on vertical walls,indoor irregular wave loads experiments are conducted and statistical analysis on the acquired data is made.The statistical parameters of wave loads in design reference period of 50 years are derived based on the relationship between the statistical parameters of long-term load and that of short-term load.It is indicated that the short-term wave load follows a Weibull distribution and the long-term wave load follows an extreme I distribution. Abstract:Using the measured wave data from January to June,2009 of the coastal station in the south of the northern Jiangsu radial sand ridges,we study the wave characteristics of the area.After taking all data for statistical analysis,we gain its wave height eigenvalues and explore the relationship between each characteristic wave height and mean wave height (significant wave height);after screening out 25 sets of wavefront data,whose significant wave height occurs extreme time,calculate the wave height,period and between joint probability density distribution with probabilistic method and compare them with corresponding theoretical formula results.Statistical results show that Gluhovski distribution is more applicable to the wave height distribution in this region;when the spectral width is small,Longuet-Higgins theoretical cycle distribution fit in with the measured distribution better;when the wave height is big and the period is small,the measured joint probability distribution of wave height and period and each theoretical distribution are in good agreement.

Abstract:Based on two kinds of isothiazole antiseptic,we explore the effect of antiseptic on the inhibition of bacteria and fungi in polycarboxylate water reducers (PCs),and discusses the influences of antiseptic on the appearance,pH value and performance of PCs.The results show that the antiseptic can effectively inhibit the growth and reproduction of bacteria and mold,especially for the mold.Accordingly,it can prevent the PCs from becoming mouldy on the surface and decreasing of pH value.For the PCs stored in a short time,the adding of antiseptic leads to a decreasing dispersibility while an increasing dispersion stability.The effect of antiseptic content on the decreasing dispersibility of PCs is gradually diminished with the prolonged storage time.Overall,the appropriate dosage of antiseptic in PCs is 0.05%.

Abstract:Drastic fluctuations of water level caused by peak regulation and flood discharge in the upstream affect directly the safety of berthing and terminal operation in the downstream vertical piers.A new floating mooring device based on the lock floating bollard provides a solution to the above problem.To verify the reliability that the mooring device can lift up and down freely under complex running resistances,this paper makes further study on the mooring device about one system and multi-system cases,and a group of guide-wheels and a linkage are proposed respectively to solve the stucking problems caused in the two cases.This study lays a solid foundation for the mooring device used in the actual project and serves as reference for similar projects as well.

Abstract:The impact force generated by the vessel berthing terminal is an important load for the terminal design,and the rational determination of its value is a very important.Because of many factors,in international research field there are some calculation formulas for the impact force,but there exists some differences between them,especially on the impact force of large oil tankers berthing at the open sea terminal.The paper analyzes the calculation formulas of several representative theories in the domestic and international research,and makes a comparative analysis,which indicates that there are some differences between the domestic code and international research or the physical model test results for calculation of vessel impact force.In order to determine the impact force of the large oil tankers berthing at the open sea terminals,the paper puts forward suggestions for improvement of the code formula.

Abstract:Qujiang channel (Jinhua section) is located on the upstream of the Qiantang River,and Yaojia junction is the most downstream cascade project of Qujiang (Jinhua section) shipping cascade development projects.The dam site was moved up in order to reduce the tributary immersion,with the consequences that the backwater of Fuchun river dam could not connect with the downstream water level of Yaojia junction.So,about 7 km downstream channel needs to be excavated deeply to meet the requirements of navigation.To maintain the stability of artificially excavated channel in the mountainous river,we set appropriate height of sand retaining sill to stop the river sand into deeply excavated channel.Based on the fixed bed and moving bed physical model test,we analyze the flow condition,bed changing,as well as the effect of sand retaining sill of the downstream channel of navigation lock,and demonstrates the design schemes of deep excavation of channel and sand retaining sill to provide reference for decreasing the channel maintenance volume and ensuring the clear waterway of the downstream channel.

Abstract:In recent years,the Yangtze River sediment has reduced significantly,and the changes of hydrodynamic conditions of water and sediment may accelerate the siltation atrophy rate of Fushan waterway.Due to the lack of effective control of Tiehuangsha,there still exists a possibility of being broken up.To meet various needs,we carry out the Tiehuangsha regulation project.Based on the analysis of the riverbed evolution,we explore the impact of the regulation project on the waterway,which is of great significance on the maintenance of the stability of the deep channel in the Yangtze River.

Abstract:To calculate the range of motion of navigation marks in the deep water,a theoretical model of navigation marks’mooring system is established and the formulas of navigation marks’range of motion in different mooring states are derived according to the cater nary equation.For the excessive range of motion of navigation mark in the deepwater environments,the two-point mooring mode of navigation marks is proposed,which reduces greatly the navigation marks’range of motion.This paper calculates various parameters of navigation marks in different water depths combining an example.The results meet the accuracy requirements of the project,and it indicates that the method has certain reference value in the engineering.

Abstract:Based on the channel construction project of the north channel for the southwest water transport,we analyze measured data of many years on the water level of multiple existing reservoirs,and get to know that the comprehensive roughness will be reduced after completion of the water conservancy,and the ratio of the channel’s comprehensive roughness after completion of the water conservancy to the natural river is 0.862.Using the results to calculate the designed minimum navigable stage of Yangxi and Meilin reservoir,it shows that the calculation result accords well with the natural conditions.

Abstract:Lock wall longitudinal culvert bottom lateral system can commendably adapt to shiplocks which have high lift,large chamber or small ratio of chamber length to width.But how to acquire symmetrical flow distribution in lock chamber is always a key technical problem that need to be solved.In this paper,two local physical models with different scales have been built for group of lock bottom lateral culverts and single lateral culvert.Layout and flow characteristics of lock bottom lateral culverts are studied by physical model experiment,especially including the inlet layout,area ratio between the beginning and the end cross section,dimension characteristics of side ports,energy dissipation modes,etc.Furthermore,main points and general items for layout of lateral culverts have been put forward,and mooring conditions of ship in lock chamber are also confirmed by hawer forces experiments in the whole physical model.Research results show that the layout of lock bottom lateral culverts is appropriate,flow distribution in lock chamber is symmetrical during lock filling,and the hawser forces on barge tows accord with requirements of criterion.

Abstract:In the port fairways,there are so many vessels that a high density is observed.The movement of vessels in and out of fairways influences the safety of other moving vessels.Based on the theory of vessel motion model,this paper introduces a method to calculate the minimum safety distance for vessels entering and outing of fairways.We also apply the method to a case study in Ningbo port,which gives suggestions for the safety management of vessels in fairways.

Abstract:It is the key to determine reasonably the internal forces of the lock head for guaranteeing the system stability and safety lock structure,and it’s an important basis for the reinforcement design as well.The large-scale finite element analysis softeware ABAQUS is used to develop a three-dimensional finite element model of the lock head in a ship lock and the simulation scale of foundation.The model can be used to analyze the stress distribution and deformation characteristics under different working conditions.We compile the calculation procedure to get the internal force by the stress,and achieve the internal force distribution of each control point,which is compared with that by the standard algorithm.The results show that the canonical algorithm is conservative,while the finite element method considering the overall deformation and displacement,internal force calculation of large lock head is more consistent with the actual stress.

Abstract:Nanchang river is located on the upstream of the Ganjiang river segment (Nanchang to Hukou).Recently,affected by human factors,in great changes of river bed,water flow characteristics,the river bed and flow characteristics have changed a lot,thus the design water level shall be changed accordingly.For the reasonable design water level,according to the situation of recent riverbed evolution and flow conditions of Waizhou station,we carry out a comparative analysis with synthetic duration method,frequency-duration method,as well as stage-discharge relation.The result shows that the design highest navigable level changes a little recently and thus shall be determined with the frequency-duration method,the design lowest navigable level has been lowering obviously and shall be determined with the stage-discharge method.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of dredged fill including high moisture content,large compressibility and long consolidation time,etc,this paper puts forward an economic and feasible method,i.e.using composite curing agent to cure the dredged soil,so as to achieve the aim of saving time and cost.Three kinds of curing agents with better effect are developed by means of single-mixed and orthogonal experiments,and impermeability and shear tests,etc.The test results show that the effect of category 3 mixed with 2% sodium silicate,3% gypsum and 2% NaOH is the best,but considering raw material costs,the cost performance ratio of category 2 which is only mixed 0.04% triethanolamine is the highest.

Abstract:This article establishes the model of a high-pile bent spatial structure by the finite element software of ANSYS to calculate and analyze the changes of the pile displacements along its length under horizontal forces.Comparing the results from the model with that from the normative formula,it is proves that the two are consistent with each other.At the same time,the law of the distribution coefficient about the horizontal force applied to the bent is researched,and it is found that the horizontal force also has some influence on the distribution coefficient.

Abstract:The underwater grouting technology of rubble-mound of a single gravity pier is applied successfully in Qingdao 300 000 DWT crude oil wharf’s construction by the technical measures such as proper configuration of sanded cement grouting without occurrence of segregation using relatively sealed condition formed by soils around closed bedding and caisson installed,use of built-in grouting pipe and construction platform on caisson,proper construction parameters,etc.The rubble-mound foundation can be compacted and its settlement after construction can almost be avoided by underwater grouting,which provide reference for other similar projects.
