Abstract:The seagoing ship channel in Baimaosha reach of the southern branch of the Yangtze River has always been changed since its opening in 1965.Analyses show that channel instability relates to the instability of river regime,beaches and grooves.Navigable channel will not be stable without stable river regime.The rise and fall of branch channels and deep trough changes both lead to channel changes,and channel instability also relates to the upstream river regime’s instability of Tongzhoushal reach and back flow of water and sediment from the northern branch of the Yangtze estuary.With the relatively stable upstream river regime,Xuliujing and Changjiang mainstream tends to be relatively stable at the southern side,and Baimaosha southern waterway will be the seagoing ship channel stablely.Considering the changing trends of river regime and channel depth conditions,this paper selects Baimaosha southern waterway for the deepwater channel.

Abstract:Combining with the characteristics of Tongzhousha Yangtze River deep water channel regulation project,we analyze the stresses of ship,fascine mattress and method of ship control when conducting downstream fascine mattresses at different water depths and different current,so as to determine the usable scope of downstream fascine mattress and design parameters of fascine mattress.It may serve as reference for other channel regulation projects.

Abstract:It is stipulated in the Code of Design and Construction of Breakwaters(JTJ 298—1998)that the stable weight of armor blocks positioned 1 to 1.5 times of H13% under the LWL should be 1/5 of the calculating weight by Hudson formula.Model tests for a breakwater with water depth of 30 m show that there are some problems in applying the rule.To examine it,two model tests are conducted:one is armor blocks positioned 1 times H13% under the MWL,and the other is 1.5 times.Using the concept of “safety factor” to analyze the test data,we obtain the value of 2.43 and above 2.46 respectively,both of which are larger than 22.It manifests that the rule mentioned above is effective at H/d≥0.3 but failures at H/d=0.16.

Abstract:This paper is the second part of a series reviews on the settling velocity of fine sediment in a tidal environment.Based on many domestic and foreign literatures,we discuss and compare the methods for determining the settling velocity and its formulation.In past relevant studies,a number of empirical or semi empirical formulas are proposed,each of which has its own applicable condition and limitation.Here the background of these methods and formulas are presented to remind us of making a reasonable choice during practical application.The conclusions are as follows:1)The D50 oriented formula can not take account in the basic feature of settling for fine sediment,so it is not recommended;2)The SSC oriented formula is site and case specified,the coefficients vary dramatically with different studies,one should be careful on the applicability;3)The Rouse formula can not distinguish the settling component of gravitational settling from the overall downward movement;4)Due to the strict physical meaning,the McLaughlin formula is recommended for formulating the settling velocity of fine sediment.

Abstract:The existing anchor calculation formula is only applicable to the calculation of the number of anchorage waiting for berth,and when the average berth utilization coefficient P is larger than 0.8,the calculation results will appear larger deviation.In addition,the anchorage used for waiting for the tide or sheltering from wind,there is no good method used to calculate the number at present.Therefore,this paper studies the general anchorage scale calculation method and programming to achieve the fast calculation combining with actual needs.

Abstract:The hydrology and sediment environments in the ocean area near the project are analysed firstly.Then,a two dimensional model of wave,tidal current and sediment transport is seted up and fully verificated to study the tidal and sediment transport law after the channel project,which analyses the tidal current characteristics,entrance flow state,cross flow in channel,influnce of area aroud,tidal level change and diversion ratio of the five waterway entrance.

Abstract:The 2D tidal current and sediment mathematical model is built with FVM to Qitai breakwater in Lianyungang to study the changing of tide,tidal current and suspend sediment concentration nearby the port after completion of the breakwater,so as to provide technical support for future development of Lianyungang port.Accompanying the completion of Qitai breakwater,the nature of tide is altered neighboring the port and the tidal current is weakened in the harbor district but strengthened in the breakwater gap,the water with high suspend sediment concentration is away from the breakwater and the maximum sediment concentration in the harbor district is reduced.

Abstract:The thickness of reinforcement cover plays an important role to guarantee the bond between concrete and steel,and to improve the structure durability.This paper introduces the inspection at the entity structure of reinforced concrete in marine works,analyzes the bias of the inspection result with the current specifications,discusses the relationship between structure durability and the bias of reinforcement protection cover thickness,bearing capacity and the bias of cover thickness,so as to arise the attentions of construction parties,and further improve the control quality of the cover thickness in marine works.

Abstract:Satellite Difference GPS can work continuously and practically in all weather all around the world without the need to construct local base station.In this system,single station can cover wide area and work efficiently,providing accuracy of real time positioning better than decimeter.This paper first introduces Satellite Difference GPS,then compares it with traditional DGPS in terms of the status of water transport engineering surveying in China and discusses advantages of Satellite Difference GPS application of this field.

Abstract:Traditional mound breakwater structure in deeper waters brings cost rise sharply due to its large cross section.According to some research and engineering examples,It is known that rubble mound breakwater with pressure relieving inverted L breast wall can optimize the traditional breakwater pattern,guarantee the safety and meet the using requirements.Meanwhile,it can reduce the cost.Combining with an engineering case,this paper probes into the mound breakwater structure optimization design,which provides reference for similar projects.

Abstract:To improve the mooring condition of Phase Ⅳ & Ⅴterminals of Rizhao port ,we employ MIKE21 BW model to study the wave phenomena,in which four layout schemes and three structural wharves are considered.In the simulation,reflection coefficients of wharf structures are obtained from physical model test of the wave profile.The study shows that using pile gravity type complex wharf and moving PhaseⅤterminal further south which is allowed can improve the wave height distribution and the berthing condition.

Abstract:With the development of the large scale vessel,the corner berth length of vertical quay wall for large scale terminals will usually cause more occupation of shoreline,when calculating with the vessel length parameters which is determined by the Design Code of General Layout for Sea Port.Based on the idea of original train of thought,the relations and regular pattern are analyzed and derived among the distance between ships or ship and the quay wall,ship dimension,in different angles,ship types and berthing circumstances.In addition,the paper presents vessel length factors in the shoreline corner in the case of asymmetric berthing.Meanwhile,vessel length parameters are optimized and fixed in different shoreline corners,on the basis of maneuverability experience of large scale vessel.The purpose of this study is to economize the resource of shoreline by moderately reducing the surplus berth length at the shoreline corner,which is in the premise of ensuring the safety of the maneuverability.

Abstract:This paper proposes a design method for reinforced concrete structures of port engineering considering performance degradation,which takes the bearing capacity,longitudinal crack and deflection as control parameters and is realized by adding durability requirements to the existing design of ultimate limit states and service limit states.The examples show that this method is well coordinated with the current design and accords well with the engineering practice.Moreover,it is quite applicable in the structural design.

Abstract:Yangshan deepwater port is the first offshore island port in China,built in the Northern Island chain made up mostly the small Yangshan island,the Southern Island chain made up mostly big Yangshan island is across the water.Two island chains form a funnel shaped area facing west towards Hangzhou Bay which carries the very high suspended sediment concentration.In order to get enough docklands and straight shore line works,the project blocked the three branch channels of the North Island chain and connected the inlets,substantially changed the natural environment.Based on the special environment,according to mass of hydrological and bathymetric data accompanying with the works,and the changes in circulating current caused by tide and main channel flow field structure,this article stated the impact of water and suspended sediment movement during different works period,and suggested that adjusting the first Yangshan deepwater port construction plan,keeping Kezhushan branch is a scientific and rational choice.

Abstract:To promote energy saving and consumption reducing environmental pollution,and improve economic benefit,we have widely used the technology of power supply by electricity instead of fuel for the RTG in harbors which has three major ways,i. e.sliding touch line with low support,cable reel and sliding touch line with high support.Based on the reform of electricity changed from fuel for the RTG by sliding touch line with low support,the paper discusses the power supply and distribution layout of “changing of power supply from fuel to electricity” for the RTG,power supply mode by sliding touch line with low support and reform of power supply for the gantry crane.

Abstract:Waterway grade of Hejiang river is low for a long time,which restricts the navigation capacity and navigation benefits.This paper establishes a one dimensional mathematical model to study the navigable water level and the length of shoal under the condition of hydropower stations’s operating,takes the channel regulation width and water level decrease ratio into account,and analyzes the feasibility and application conditions of the improvement of Hejiang river waterway’s level.In the end,the shoal length,channel regulation width and water level decrease ratio are chosen as factors to be determined for the optimization of waterway grade.The result indicates that the suitable waterway grade of Hejiang river is the fourth.

Abstract:In recent years,more and more sand mining projects are carried out in Chengtong river reach,which may cause riverbed erosion or siltation,and bring adverse effects on waterway and navigation safety.Taking Fushan waterway south shore beach restoration project for an example and based on the latest mapping data and hydrologic data,this article analyzes the river back silting situation after sand mining,and discusses waterway and navigation safety.The result may serve as reference for follow up projects in the local reach.

Abstract:Wangdao navigation junction is the key project of recovering navigation in Xiaoqinghe Channel.Based on the analysis of the restrictive factors for Wangdao navigation junction,we compare three layout schemes from such aspects as the river bend,bridge construction,the plane layout for ship lock,influence on riverside facilities,and the project investment.The results indicate that the scheme of moving check gate has the least bridge span length,the lowest project investment in all of the schemes,and the layout for ship lock is more rational.So it’s recommended as the optimal scheme.

Abstract:With the implementation of the middle route of the South North Water Transfer Project,incoming water and sediment process in the downstream waterway of the Hanjiang river will change significantly.Low discharge will last longer,the rate and duration of middle discharge will reduce,and the amount of sediment will decrease.The existing method for determining the regulation stage cannot be applied to the new water and sediment conditions.A new method for calculating the regulation stage is promoted,and the results are applied to the waterway regulation works in Xinglong Yuekou reach in the downstream of the Hanjiang river.

Abstract:Based on the measured data of flow,sediment and monograph of Dongliu channel,we analyze the evolution characteristics,discuss the change of tomography after implementation of the waterway regulation projects,and predict the new the evolution trend using a 2D mathematical model.The results show that the Dongliu channel mostly erodes after one decade and local channel deposits sometimes.The range of erosiondeposition is 5 m.The spilt ratio of east harbor increases and the spilt ratio of west harbor and Lianhuazhou decreases after one decade.The left branch of Laohutan shoal deposits and the channel condition of west harbor worsens because of the deposition of Laohutan shoal,to which enough attention shall be paid.

Abstract:Linjiaba hydro junction is located at the west waterway on Beijing—Hangzhou Grand Canal in north Jiangsu.In order to meet the demand of cargo forecasts,it’s necessary to construct the second line ship lock.The general layout of the second line ship lock is researched,including the width of sharing approach channel,the type of approach channel of the second line ship lock,the construction condition,the chamber structure of the first line ship lock,the site’s topographic condition,etc.Different distances between axes of the first line and the second line are discussed and a distance of 70 m between axes of the two locks is determined according to general demonstration.At last,some optimized suggestions are presented to improve the design.

Abstract:In recent years,the measured value of channel water level in Changzhou hub downstream has shown a trend of declining,which was inconsistent with the design value of the original channel water level.An analysis for the reason of bed evolution is carried out based on the hydrological data of the channel,and the result shows that the reasons for the declining of the channel water level of Changzhou hub’s downstream lies in the influence of riverbed hubs’downstream from upstream inflow and sediment,excessive sand mining in downstream river channel,river cascade development and construction of water conservancy,as well as the construction of waterway regulation buildings,etc.Combining with the practical situation of the site,we put forward the improvement measures including controlling the excessive sand mining in the hub’s downstream river channel,taking restrictive regulation measures and strengthening detection of the river section,which provides a support for the normal navigation of Changzhou hub downstream channel.

Abstract:Based on the finite element method,which is based on a navigation power junction project,we adopt the nonlinear theory to establish the two dimensional simulation model of lock chamber structure in maintenance and low water operation respectively for the contact analysis and calculation of highly lined inverted trapezoidal lock chamber structure and rock bed.According to the research on the stress distribution of the contact state and contact part,we draw the conclusion that the weak surface of the inverted trapezoidal lock chamber structure may be on the steps.

Abstract:Generally,soft soil has a high water content and low shear strength,and most of the soil landslides occur in the rain or during a certain time after the rainfall,so it is of great significance to study the mechanism of rainfall infiltration induced soft soil slope failure.This paper selects a soft soil slope engineering as the research object,based on finite element strength reduction,using Abaqus software to establish the three dimensional finite element model of the soft soil slope,and analyzes the influence of slope stability on rainfall intensity and duration as well as saturated permeability coefficient.The results show that:Along with the rain infiltration the soil saturation and pore water pressure increase,the shallow soil matrix suction decrease or disappear,resulting in the reduction of soil shear strength and decrease of slope stability;The model of rainfall infiltration induced slope stability shows asymptotic traction damage,the plastic damage area first appears at the foot of the slope,and upwards along the slope face,and gradually forms a continuous plastic sliding surface;Continuous heavy rainfall easily leads to slope instability destruction.

Abstract:The coefficient of consolidation is one of most important parameters for reinforcement of soft ground with drainage method.The parameter obtained from back analysis with in situ data would be more consistent with the actual situation,because the test conditions of the laboratory and field are quite different.Based on the in situ settlement data of some soft ground treatment projects,this paper analyzes various kinds of effects on consolidation parameters from the aspect of total load,load ratio before and after full load,pre load time ratio and changes in boundary conditions beside the in situ points,and fits relationship formula according to changes with the parameter.Furthermore,it proposes a simple algorithm with the immediate settlement,and calculates the primary consolidation zero point of time,which is compared with the revised zero point obtained from Zeng Guo xi method.The results may serve as reference for the engineering and research concerning soft ground treatment project.

Abstract:The 3 000 DWT gravity wharf is a hollow concrete block quay wall built on the strata of silty sand and silty clay,which has favorable engineering geologic features.This article calculates the wharf’s settlement by the layer wise summation method,and makes numerical simulation by finite difference method.Selecting critical parameters (one dimension compression empirical coefficient and elastic modulus) reasonably,the calculation results given by the above mentioned method are identical to the measured data,which proves that the calculation methods are appropriate to similar geologic conditions.

Abstract:The dense degree of soil plays an important role in bearing behavior of large size rock socketed filling pile with steel tube in the inland wharf.Contact interface shearing tests are carried out under certain conditions of moisture content and grain composition with different degree of dry density of samples.The relationship between the shear stress and displacement,limiting shear strength and residual strength of reciprocating shearing under different normal stress of different degree of dry density are studied.The results show that there are three stages during the shearing process of steel soil interface including elastic stage,plastic stage and failure stage.The Mohr coulomb criterion is met by limiting the shear strength.Cohesion and internal friction angle are increased linearly with the increasing dry density.In the process of reciprocating shearing,the maximum shear stress remains unchanged of the same shearing direction in different circulations.However,the negative direction of shear stress is slightly larger than the positive direction of shear stress.

Abstract:Based on in situ investigation and experiments,the paper introduces the distribution characteristics and engineering properties of the dredger fill in Liaodong gulf to supplement theoretic research of dredger fill,and their properties are various owing to effects of many factors,such as the different source of dredger fill,consolidated time and site conditions.To make further analysis,two typical fields (A and B regions)are selected to research engineering properties and micro structure through a series of experiments,such as compaction and consolidation,mercury penetration and scanning electron microscopy (SEM);then the rule of consolidation is obtained combining with the change of depth.Results show that A and B have different degrees of consolidation with different depths,however,A has the same consolidation phase and the consolidation phase of B is different.

Abstract:According to the present situation which is lack of the rock dredging theory and the construction technology,this paper presents the new revised rock mass basic quality indicator for the dredging engineering ([BQ]TH) and also analyzes the influential factors for the heavy duty cutter suction dredger working in the moderately weathered rock,on the basis of the data recorded in the dredging construction in the medium weathered rock.The results show that the reamer slice thickness,the reamer shaft speed,and reamer power with revised rock mass basic quality indicator ([BQ]TH) have good correlations.Relevant empirical formulas are summarized to guide future process of the construction technology.
