Abstract:The existence of the ditch between the Tongzhou shoal and the Langshan shoal should have some influence on the formation of the shallow area of the east Tongzhou shoal watercourse. The ditch not only makes against to the protection of the nearby shoals, but also plays a significant role of dispersing or breaking up the mainstream. So, as to the navigational channel regulation project of the Tongzhou shoal, both restricting the ditch, protection the shoal and improving the hydrodynamics of the shallow area should be taken account in at the same time. Based on a well calibrated 2D hydrodynamic model, the currents distribution on the shoals, ditch, tidalflat and the watercourses are analyzed, and a suitable position for restricting the ditch currents and regulating the channel is proposed. The proposed layout is certified being of dual role of both stabilizing river regime of this reach and improving the scour capability of the shallow area through scenario study.

Abstract:This paper reviews the advancement in impacts of tidal dynamics on radial sand ridges (RSR), including its morphology, development time, formation mechanism, particle size distribution, material sources, sandbank evolution and stability of tidal inlet. Thousands of years ago, huge and radialized RSR was formed because sediment entered the radial tidal current field. Under the effect of tidal dynamics, fringe of RSR was eroded, center of RSR was deposited, and the tidal inlet tends to be stable. This paper proposes that the sediment module can be added in the tidal flow simulation, and long-term model can be applied to reproduce the whole process of formation and evolution of the RSR in order to compensate for many inadequacies of existing research.

Abstract:Taking the offshore artificial island project of Qiongzhou Strait’s white sand shoal as the research object, on the basis of the analysis of the measured data, we establish the tidal current numerical model based on unstructured grid, and analyze the dynamic variation characteristics of the flow field before and after the engineering. Using the model of suspended load and the model of the bottom sand, we predict the characteristics of the terrain evolution after implementation of the engineering, research the impact of dynamic changes in the water surrounding of Ruyi island project, and forecast the sediment scouring of the engineering sea area.

Abstract:Based on the continental reinforced slopes in some wharf engineering of Chongqing port, the reinforcement mechanism and the stability of high and steep geosynthetic-reinforced slopes under its own weight are studied through centrifuge model tests and two-dimensional finite element methods. The centrifuge test results show that the failure mode of the reinforced slope is different from that of slope without geosynthetic. The slope shoulder collapses in the former, while the stress concentrated at the 1/6~1/3 of the slope height in the latter. The strength of the fillings especially those at the middle and lower part of the slope has a decisive influence on the slope stability. If the upper fillings are changed with low strength soils alone, the stability of the slope might decrease rarely. The numerical analysis firstly is tested and verified by the centrifuge tests results, and then is applied to the analysis of the factor of safety and the stress and displacement of the prototype slope. The comprehensive analysis method with centrifuge tests and numerical simulation can be used in other reinforced slopes and geotechnical engineering projects.

Abstract:The maintenance of artificial beach in silt coast has been increasingly concerned. Based on the formula of sea bed erosion and siltation derived by the concept of equilibrium depth, through the assumption of equilibrium velocity, the sea bed scouring and silting caused by the change of water depth is added. The formula which is adapted to the calculation of erosion and siltation of natural seabed is generalized. The sediment scouring and silting of the beach dredging project in the new city of Lianyungang is calculated by the new formula. The result shows that the seabed tend to reduce to original depth after every dredging project is implemented. Mud is exposed and regular dredging maintenance is needed.

Abstract:The large-diameter concrete cylinder pile used for port engineering is characterized by favorable work performance and low price, and has made great contribution to the port development of China. With the development of the marine industry, a higher demand is required for this kind of pile. So, we develop a new type of pile named “post-tensioned concrete cylinder piles with long pile sections for port engineering” . Experiments show that the pile has better physical and mechanical characteristics, and it can broaden the application scope of the large-diameter concrete cylinder pile used for port engineering.

Abstract:This paper presents a physical experiment study on caisson breakwater with contracted channel and OWC (Oscillating Water Column) modeling. The form of channel structure, factors of incident wave and shape parameters of OWC air chamber have a great influence on the work efficiency of this composite structure, how they affect the composite structure is observed in the experiment by changing them and analyzed the test date. The work efficiency of the structure is expressed by wave amplitude amplification factor, point-pressure on the top of OWC chamber and wave reflectivity before the breakwater.

Abstract:The effect of concrete surface hydropobation treatment against chloride penetration is studied by rapid test and in-site exposure test. It is shown that the silane impregnated layer can prevent the penetration of chlorides into the concrete substrate effectively and reduce the apparent chloride ion diffusion coefficient and surface chloride concentration; The apparent diffusion coefficient of surface treatment concrete can reduce by more than 50%, and improve the service life of concrete structure. Moreover, the depth of concrete convection zone can reduce due to silane impregnated layer for concrete in the marine environment of wetting and drying area.

Abstract:In order to understand the acid and alkali resistance performance of basalt fiber, tests are done to study the quality change and monofilament strength under the situation of 80℃, 2 mol/L hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution corrosion, and comparison is done for the polypropylene fiber, alkali glass fiber acid-proof alkaline. The results show that for the acid performance, basalt fiber is the optimal, followed by polypropylene fiber, alkali glass fiber. For the alkali resistance performance, quality performance in the consequence of polypropylene fiber, basalt fiber and alkali glass fiber. Test results provide the reference for basalt fiber and new materials in the popularization and application of cement concrete.

Abstract:Taking Tiaoyugang as a case study, the port, which locates at the end of the Huangshayang channel’s of radial sandridges, is being built in shallow tank of tidal channel. First of all, the natural conditions are analysed. Then, based on the calibration of two-dimensional hydrodynamic mathematical model, the results act in accord with the measured data. The tide current field of whole computational region and the characteristic point’s cross flow on before and after the project are discussed. Finally, using the sediment experience formula calculates the yearly deposition quantity in the harbor basin and channel. The conclusion can provide the scientific basis for the port design.

Abstract:Two methods are widely used in stability checking of gravity quay: limit state method with single factor, probability-based limit state method expressed with partial safety factors. The first method is replied in Design and Construction Code for Gravity Quay (1987) and BS 6349(1988), the second in Design and Construction Code for Gravity Quay (2009) and BS 6349 (2010). The calculation difference on overturning and anti-slide are compared between Chinese code and Britain new and old revision standard. The comparison is further detailed by taking a typical gravity block wharf as an example, so as to offer reference for the design of gravity block structure in foreign projects.

Abstract:Most river dock slopes are steady at the early stage of its application, but the river bed topography in front of the slope may change over time under the action of current, resulting in the deformation and sliding of the slope, which leads to the displacement or even overall slipping of the dock structure. Based on an engineering case, this paper analyzes main causes of the deformation and structure displacement of a piled dock due to the bed evolution, probes into the engineering measures for restoring the stability of the slope, and studies the prevention and remediation measures for the deformation and sliding of dock slope due to the bed evolution.

Abstract:Dongliu waterway is located in the lower Yangtze River. In recent years, its waterway condition is getting increasingly bad. Based on the observed data, this paper analyzes evolution characters of the left beach of Dongliu waterway and the effect of the left beach’s evolution on the waterway condition. It points out that the new evolution characteristic of the left beach after implementation of the waterway regulation project is an important reason for the increasingly badding of the waterway condition. It also predicts the trend of the bed evolution of the left beach and the waterway condition, and points out that the main channel called Xigang may be still in a shrinking trend. These researches may serve as reference for the channel regulation ideas and engineering design in the follow-up project.

Abstract:The hydraulic indexes of Sanxikou shiplock are high and the lock chamber is nonstand. At the same time, the layout of filling and emptying system of Sanxikou shiplock is affected by many limiting factors. Therefore, it is difficult to design its end filling and emptying system. The characteristics of different energy dissipating modes are analysed in this paper. And energy dissipating mode that combines grid stilling chamber with stilling basin is put forward and dimensions of the filling and emptying system are calculated. The hydraulic characteristics during lock filling and emptying, velocity distribution characteristics and mooring conditions of ship in lock chamber, pressure characteristics in culverts, and flow conditions at inlet or outlet are all studied and relevant improvement measures are presented through physical model experiment(scale 1∶20). Furthermore,the valve opening modes, length of stilling lock section and dimensions of baffle sill in stilling chamber at downstream lock head are proposed. The energy dissipating type is very suitable for Sanxikou shiplock and many technical problems about layout of filling and emptying system have been solved. The experiment results accord with requirements of criterion and design.

Abstract:The steel floating caisson used in modern ship building and repairing tends to be large and ultra-large. In the design of the floating caisson, this paper describes the general variation law of the transverse meta-centric height according to the working principle, structural type and up-down process and in combination with the real case analysis, finds out the abrupt variation point and the most dangerous moment of the transverse metacentric height in the up-down process of the dock wall, and proposes the optimization measures of design.

Abstract:To determine the dimension of coastal entrance channel, this paper develops a computer aided analysis system (CAAS) for supplying valuable information such as port service level, waiting time and so on. Integrating the network technology with computer simulation, this paper presents the structures of the system and classes, and achieves the functions of ship navigation simulation and influence factor analysis. An application proves that the CAAS performs well and is helpful for optimizing the dimension of coastal entrance channel effectively.

Abstract:This paper presents an analysis of the riverbed evolution trend of Chengtong reach of the Yangtze River in terms of the river facies relation, with the main focus on the change of the sectional area of typical section under the different discharge and sediment concentration. The result shows that when the sediment concentration decreases from 0.312 kg/m3 to 0.043 kg/m3, the sectional area of typical section increases 55%. At the same time, while the discharge of ebb tide increases from 10 000 m3/s to 100 000 m3/s, the sectional area increases nearly 7.7 times. These indicate that under the current status of continuous decrease of sediment concentration from the upstream, the occurrence of overall erosion in the Chengtong reach is highly possible in the future. In addition, the sectional area will increase also if the discharge from upstream increases.

Abstract:Hybrid lock on complex geological conditions is analyzed by the finite element method. Abstract:The application of prestressed back-tie rods in the large-scale miter gate can increase the torsional rigidity .Combining with the Xiaba multiline lock, the paper introduces the arrangement form and the calculating theory which is put forward by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers SHERMER C L, and discusses the choice of the parameters and calculation process. Moreover, it investigates the application of prestress to the back-tie rods. The result shows that the calculating theory of the prestressed back-tie rods is feasible. It may serve as reference for related engineering calculations, construction and maintenance.

Abstract:Gaoliangjian lock is composed of the expansion shiplock and the second-line shiplock, which is a type. The double lock shares the lower approach channel and confluences with the North Jiangsu Irrigation Canal at a short distance. The flow conditions in the under approach channel are quite complicated due to the emptying courses of the double lock and the North Jiangsu Irrigation Canal. The flow characteristics under different combinations of typical water levels and operation modes are studied by numerical simulation. Considering the lock features, the currently most convenient and effective structural measure, separation levee, is proposed. The results can be used for the lock design and management.

Abstract:Under vacuum negative pressure, the deformation and strength characteristics of soft soil have a close relationship with the loading mode. Firstly, we carry out the vacuum consolidation test to the filled soft soil. Based on the monitoring of foundation settlement and vacuum degree, we compare the foundation settlement law and consolidation effect under different loading modes. Adopting FLAC3D, we establish elastic-plastic 3D numerical simulation model to simulate the soft soil by different loading modes, the result of which is compared with the real-measured data of field test to probe into the mechanism of the effect of the loading mode on consolidation of soft soil. The research indicates that taking multi-stage loading is more advantageous than that of the instantaneous loading to the consolidation of soil when vacuum preloading is adopted to consolidate soft soil foundation. So it is recommended to use the multi-stage loading pattern for the vacuum loading in the project.

Abstract:The direct shear test is widely used in China. Besides the soil samples’characteristics impact, the direct shear test is also greatly related to the parameter conditions. This paper studies the quick shear indicators of saturated silty clay with low plasticity from Caofeidian in Hebei province. Based on the statistical analysis of test indicators obtained by different test methods, we know the impact of the shear rate in the quick shear indicators and suggest the higher shear rate (2.4 mm/min) on saturated silty clay with low plasticity quick shear test.

Abstract:Based on the feature of vertical crack of pile caps and settlement of angled pile in a piled wharf, we think the reason lies in that the angled piles in the piled wharf do not enter into favorable bearing stratum and the oblique piles are acted by negative frictional resistance. It is proposed that the thixotropy of soft ground during pile driving and the river deposition can also exert the negative friction resistance to the pile. The coefficient value of negative friction resistance is compared between the silty ground and sandy soil.

Abstract:The large cutter suction dredger is employed to excavate deepwater channel rock without reef so as to avoid the damage of dredging to the environment. Cutter suction dredgers are usually needed to butt the mud pipeline so as to fill the dredged soil into land. When there is no suitable reclaimed area for blowing distance in deepwater channel, two kinds of construction technologies including the direct loading barge and stern blow loading barge can be used. This paper introduces a new excavated approach to excavate the dredged soil with channel rock by the large cutter suction dredger and discusses the generation and implementation process optimization of mobile stern blow loading barge, from which the conveying principle would be combed, refined and summarized, to serve as reference for and be popularized in similar projects.

Abstract:The sealing effect of cofferdam will affect directly the safety and construction progress of the follow-up construction. Both the vertically laid plastic and high-pressure jet grouting are new waterproof curtain technology for the cofferdam developed in recent years. Any single sealing method is unfavorable for the deepwater seawall cofferdam in the area with a greater tidal range, thus a joint sealing method shall be adopted to meet the requirement. This method is expounded based on the design and construction of the joint sealing curtain of vertically laid plastic and high-pressure jet grouting in the special marine environment in the Jixing dike opening renovation project.

Abstract:It is widely appreciated that the launching, transportation and installation of 2 000 t plus large-sized caisson can be conducted by the semi-submersible barge, and those of the small-sized caisson of less than 500 t can be conducted by the floating crane. However, there is not a common opinion on the launching, transportation and installation of medium-sized caisson between 500 t and 2 000 t. Taking the land formation engineering of Beihai LNG receiving station in Guangxi region as a study case, we expound the superiority of launching, transportation and installation of the medium caisson using large float crane combined with panel square barge from the aspects of the environment,economy and technology and probe into the relevant construction measures that must be paid attention to.
