      2013(5):1-10.

      Abstract (2164) HTML (0) PDF 4.62 M (158) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Tongzhou shoal and Baimao shoal are two major obstacle shoals of the 12.5 m deep water channel extending up to Nanjing in the Yangtze River. The engineering river reach is influenced by both river discharge and tide, hydrodynamics is complicated and river bed is active in siltation and erosion. Two-dimensional numerical tidal model is set up to study nonuniform nonequilibrium sediment movement in the three sand shoals (Fujiang shoal, Tongzhou shoal, Baimao shoal). Based on the study on the sediment carrying capacity formula and suspended and bed sediment exchange mode, the paper calibrates and verifies the model by measured hydrology and field bathymetry data. The model is applied to the 12.5m deep water channel phase I project to analyze the influence of regulation works and affords technical support for the engineering design.

Abstract:In view of two obstacle segments of navigation channel from Taicang to Nantong which were named TZS (Tong Zhou Shoal) Waterway and BMS (Bai Mao Shoal) Waterway, the first phase project of 12.5 m deep-water navigation channel project was designed and now under buliding. The project would make 12.5 m deepwater channel extent from Taicang port to Nantong port. In order to test project effects, movable-bed physical model was designed to optimize layout of the project. TZS sub-project can make obvious effect to prevent shoal erosion, training dike and tooth groins could prevent washing back of left edge of TZS shoal and LSS (Lang Shan Shoal) shoal, erosion development process of scour channel between TZS and LSS could also be prevented. The navigation condition of deep water channel in the east LSS waterway could be improved. BMS sub-project can also make obvious effect to prevent shoal erosion, and change the backward trend of shoal caused by erosion. And also, small sand bar locating in south channel of BMS shoal which cause navigation obstruction was also significantly eroded, navigation condition of the inlet section of south channel of BMS shoal was also improved for the project. In conclusion, the project can achieve the goal of engineering construction.

      2013(5):35-40.

      Abstract (1587) HTML (0) PDF 1.28 M (137) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The variation coefficient and its probability distribution of combined action and combined resistance are discussed based on the statistical results of calibration calculating for reliability index β by JC method to anti-sliding and anti-overturn stability of gravity wharf as well as some typical analyses by Monte-Carlo method. The result indicates that the probability distribution of combined action and combined resistance all conform approximately to the type of lognormal or normal and then the partial factor for combined resistance can be obtained and set by them, which may serve as reference for revision of the code. On the basis of this, we submit some revision suggestions on the partial factor and the adjustment factor for structure.

    • Multi-factors model for durability of concrete under chloride environment based on experimental and statistical analysis

      2013(5):55-62.

      Abstract (1640) HTML (0) PDF 1.76 M (98) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The charge passed through concrete is a key parameter for durability analysis of concrete under chloride environment. In this paper, the effect of the water/binder ratio, the replacements of fly ash, slag and silica fume on the charge passed is investigated by analyzing the experiment data and those collected from literatures, so that a multi-factor model is developed. The statistical analysis of data from literature and experiment demonstrates the satisfying accuracy and applicability of the model. The service life of reinforced concrete is studied based on Fick's second law and the multi-factors model, the results show that the reduction of water/binder ratio, or adding the content of blending admixtures can effectively improve the concrete service life. The concrete structures adding slag result in better durability than fly ash. The durability of high performance concrete (HPC) with both of fly ash and slag is better than those with fly ash or slag only.

    • Numerical simulation on straight-wide pile framework wharf of partition coefficient

      2013(5):63-67.

      Abstract (2040) HTML (0) PDF 1.48 M (110) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The influential factors of partition coefficient of horizontal impact force on overhead vertical wharf are complicated, which contain bent frame number, bent frame spacing, impact position, wharf width, components size and so on. This paper mainly studies the influence of wharf width and pile diameter using Ansys finite element analysis. The results show that increasing wharf width is beneficial to evenly partition coefficient of horizontal impact force. Increasing pile diameter is harmful to even partition coefficient of horizontal impact force. In order to make the structure well-distributed stress, it can be appropriate to increase the wharf width and reduce the pile diameter. This paper also contains the sensitivity analysis between the factors.

      Abstract (1074) HTML (0) PDF 1.71 M (104) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Based on the analysis of the historical data of a coal wharf’s construction, we develop and compare different transforming and upgrading schemes, to satisfy the requirement of the systematic upgrading of facilities and ensure normal operation of the power plant. In view of the limited space for upgrading and necessity of matching joints between the new structures and the old ones, a non-standard design speed of conveyance belt is adopted which result in saving cost, reducing power consumption and stabilizing the operation in a safe manner if fitted with the basic conditions; And a deck structure supported on rake large-diameter socketed-in-rock tubular piles is adopted for the extended section of wharf, while a kind of creative structure with strut piers supported on rake socketed-in-rock tubular piles is used for the reinforced section, so as to reduce the settlement and minimize the influence on the original structures and operation on the wharf. This method of wharf upgrading may serve as referencefor other projects of the same nature in the future.

    • Laying of fork pile fastened angle at high-pile wharf with horizontal load

      2013(5):79-83.

      Abstract (2391) HTML (0) PDF 1.65 M (207) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Selecting a structural segment of high-pile wharf in Zhanjiang as the research data, we build a space finite element model by finite element software ANSYS. Considering four kinds of horizontal loading effects as controlled working conditions, we calculate and analyze the internal force of pier pile under different fork pile fastened angles, and discuss the influence of horizontal earthquake effect and ship load on the laying of fork pile fastened angle. The results indicate that: when the fastened angle is growing bigger, the lateral displacement and bending moment of such structure increase, but the longitudinal displacement and bending moment become smaller. The displacement and the bending moment get the maximum under the working condition of the longitudinal horizontal earthquake effect. When the effect of longitudinal and lateral controlled working conditions is considered, fork pile fastened angle 20° will be reasonable in the structural segment of such high-pile wharf.

      Abstract (1217) HTML (0) PDF 1.77 M (87) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:As the new terminal in Dongying is just 20km away from the tank farm, the ship pump head is not enough to overcome the frictional resistance, so the materials can’t be directly transported to the tank farm. After analysis and computation, we raise a proposal of installing a pump station on the terminal, so as to make good use of the space on the terminal platform. Furthermore, we carry out a water hammer analysis to test whether transient water hammer pressure exceeds the designed pressure of pipe, and adjust the proposal to decrease transient water hammer pressure if it is higher.

      2013(5):88-93.

      Abstract (2154) HTML (0) PDF 1.55 M (105) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The time for the impoundment of the Three Gorges reservoir is very short, and the scour and aggradations of the river bed are in continuous adjustment, all of which make both the inadaptability between navigable base level and navigable condition and the contradiction between available data and determining method for design water level more remarkable. Based on the hydrological data of year 1981—2002 before the reservoir, the corrections of the design water level are calculated by time division, the design water level calculated according to the observed dada after reservoir is revised, and the design water level of part hydrographic stations at the middle Yangtze River are determined. This paper compares the variation of the design water level before and after the reservoir, and analyzes the course of change.

      2013(5):106-109.

      Abstract (1927) HTML (0) PDF 2.23 M (105) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:RNG κ-ε and VOF models in FLUENT software are used to simulate the flow field in the vicinity of a submerged spur dike. The result shows that the flow speed in main field is increased as a result of restraining by spur dike and a moderate backflow region with lower speed behind the dike. Backwater occurs near the dike so that the water level before the dike is increased while decreases behind, and then recovers along the channel. The simulation result coincides with the experiment and field observation and the calculated speed is close to the test data, which means that the model presented can be applied to the engineering calculation related to spur dike.

      2013(5):110-115.

      Abstract (2218) HTML (0) PDF 3.48 M (106) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:During the operation of the inshore channel, the channel sedimentation will happen due to moving of sand material under the effect of tide, wave and current. Thereby, the periodic maintenance upon the channel is required. However, the maintenance cost will be reduced once a reasonable channel layout and slope design is adopted. Based on the natural conditions and water level data of Ras Az Zawr port, Saudi Arabia, we analyze the trend of sedimentation of channel and the reason for it by theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. On that basis, we propose suggestions for the logical channel slope , which will cut down the maintenance cost of navigation channel. Based on the analysis of the mathematic parameter and verification of survey data during a period of operation, we know that the channel layout and slope design of Ras Az Zawr port is reasonable and acceptable.

      2013(5):120-123.

      Abstract (1649) HTML (0) PDF 1.57 M (97) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The paper presents the finite element analysis on the stress distribution in lock wall subjected to an impact of ship with the maximum weight, impact angle and velocity. The results reveals that the C25 concrete traditionally used in lock wall can’t carry the tensile and compressive stress at collision. Based on the FEM analysis results, various strength indices of concrete in lock wall are correspondingly suggested. The field tests in actual engineering further verify the reliability of bond strength index between new and old concrete. These proposed indices provide reliable reference for the design and repair of ship lock structure.

      2013(5):143-149.

      Abstract (1175) HTML (0) PDF 2.63 M (98) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:This paper summarizes four kinds of pile-rock interface models that are frequently used in FEM simulation for rock-socketed pile. An improved hyperbolic model of load-transfer for rock-socketed pile is proposed to resolve the problem of parameter selection based on the most common and effective hyperbolic model of load-transfer according to the elastic solution of thick-wall cylinder and the theoretical research about the shear strength of the discontinuities ordered roughness without filler (Patton(1966)). The “Load Transfer -FEM” named united model is put forward according to FRIC subroutine which applies the improved hyperbolic model of load-transfer on the strength of the ABAQUS (CAE). The bearing behavior and load transfer mechanism for rock-socketed pile reflected by the results from applying united model to analyze static loading test agree well with field measurements.
