      2013(1):20-24.

      Abstract (1445) HTML (0) PDF 2.00 M (62) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Taking the southern operating area of Lanshan port as an example, this paper analyzes the scheduling of ship’s entering the port in higher tide at the initial stage of the surrounding basin. There is a larger angle between the channel axis of the southern operating area of Lanshan port and the flow direction of mainstream of flooding and ebbing tides, resulting in a larger cross-flow in the channel near the entrance. The cross-flow during the flood phase is larger than that during the ebb phase. The largest cross-flow during the flood phase presents at 400 m along the channel axis outside the entrance. According to statistic results, the relationship between the maximum velocity during the flood phase and tidal range and relationship between the designed tide-bound water level during the flood phase and the maximum velocity during the flood phase is established and then water depth and cross-flow are calculated by inqurirying the tide table, so as to provide a scientific basis for determinating the time of ship’s entering port in higher tide, and thus achieve the goal of ship scheduling.

    • Numerical modeling morphodynamics of channel-shoal system in Qinzhou bay

      2013(1):45-50.

      Abstract (1367) HTML (0) PDF 2.84 M (49) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The channel-shoal system in Qinzhou bay consists of east, middle, west three major tidal channels and interpolating sand shoals (ridges). Numerical modeling of the morphodynamics of the channel-shoal system is performed using 3D unstructured grid, finite volume, paralleled computation FVCOM. Erosions occur within channels and depositions occur on shoals and at the end of channels, reflecting that tidal flow is really the dominant force to maintain and modify the channel-shoal system; two large-scale dredgings at the east channel during Sep. 2000 and Dec. 2012, and Feb. 2004 and Dec. 2008 respectively have caused the present sea bed erosion & deposition adjustment in the whole Qinzhou bay, the magnitudes of which are large initially but decreasing steadily;this adjustment process will last over 100 years if no further coastal engineering project is conducted and other presumed conditions are maintained. The morphological adjustments caused by various constructed and planned engineering projects might reinforce each other. This needs further comprehensive modeling study.

Abstract:Based on the generating and absorbing wave technology of momentum source method, this paper simulates successfully the wave effect on sloping submerged breakwater under different combination of slope angle and water depth using the fluent software. According to the analysis of the force affecting on sloping submerged breakwater under different slope angles and water depths, the conclusion that water depth has great influence while slope angle has little on the wave force on the slope-type submerged breakwater is drawn. The research can provide a calculation model for further study on the mechanical behavior of slope-type submerged breakwater under wave dynamic load, and provide valuable reference for practical engineering design.

    • Distribution and variation law of mean tidal range in eastern coastal China

      2013(1):60-65.

      Abstract (1359) HTML (0) PDF 2.48 M (66) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Influenced by multiple factors, distribution and variation law of the mean tidal range in eastern coastal China are quite complicated. Therefore, based on the continuous hourly observation data of 1 year at 21 tide gauges in eastern coastal China, annual mean tidal range and monthly mean tidal range are statistically analyzed.Furthermore, distribution of the annual mean tidal range and variation law of the monthly mean tidal range are also analyzed. The results show that besides the astronomical factor, runoff and morphology of the bay are important factors which can influence distribution and variation law of the mean tidal range. In the coastal area, influenced by the astronomical factor, monthly mean tidal range varies regularly. But in the river estuaries or the areas influenced by the acyclic factors, variation law of the monthly mean tidal range is irregular and complicated.

      2013(1):76-80.

      Abstract (1830) HTML (0) PDF 1.56 M (62) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Many factors affect the safety of high-piled wharf. The traditional safety assessment method for the high-piled wharf mainly relies on the test results of the qualitative analysis, and seldom on the accurate quantitative evaluation. In order to analyze the safety conditions of high-piled wharf accurately, this paper carries out a research on the safety assessment with reference to the safety assessment method for bridges, in which the safety assessment is divided into visual inspection assessment and bearing capacity assessment. Through the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, the safety degree of the pier is obtained. The method is concise and can reflect accurately the safety situation of the existing high-pile pier. It provides a foundation for the management, maintenance and reinforcement of wharves.

    • Response of deepwater channel in north passage to water and sediment exchange between channel and shoal in the Yangtze estuary

      2013(1):101-108.

      Abstract (1776) HTML (0) PDF 2.45 M (56) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:It is one of the important features for cohesive fine sediment that there exist different transport patterns under the effect of the tidal currents. As for the Yangtze estuary, the high-concentrated mud suspension(HCMS) is driven by near-bottom flow with the range from 1 to 2 meters, to which we should pay more attention. The field investigation reveals that the generation of HCMS is related to the settlement characteristics of the cohesive fine sediment in tidal current. The effect of the HCMS movement to the back-siltation in the deepwater channel registers as the water and sediment exchange between channel and shoal. It is estimated that the HCMS transport in the transverse current may increase the amount of the back-siltation in middle of the 12.5 m deepwater channel up to 20 million ~30 milion cubic meters. This would be one of the important factors resulting in backsiltation concentrated in the middle of the north passage.

Abstract:The Longxikou navigation-power junction on Min river is a comprehensive hydro-junction of navigation combining with hydropower. Because of the importance to Min river navigation, the flow condition during the construction period of Longxikou power station will be directly concerned if Min river navigation channel can meet the transport requirements of the large ship or not. Based on the hydraulic model test, the navigation water condition in each construction period is studied. In some cofferdam sections of the second and the third period of diversion, the condition of navigation flow is very poor. To solve these problems, some comprehensive measures, which improve the navigation flow conditions in the construction period, are proposed. The research result may serve as reference for similar engineering.

      2013(1):121-123.

      Abstract (1774) HTML (0) PDF 2.06 M (57) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Usually the bed leveling period after massive dredging period is unavoidable during a dredging project for TSHD, and the efficiency of bed leveling will be quite low, especially for stick clay. Because of the property of stick clay, the difference of the bed will be increased if the shallow points were not eliminated in time, the bed leveling will become even harder for TSHD. In order to solve the problem, we carry out a study, with the help of accurate dredging techniques provided by new supervision technology, the bed leveling period is eliminated, and the dredging efficiency of TSHD is increased.
