Abstract:With the aid of the model experiment and the method of theoretical analysis,we analyze the distribution disciplinarian of gross dynamic hydraulic pressure and fluctuating pressure near the spur dike. After drawing the distribution isoline of fluctuation pressure, we divide the area near the spur dike into four areas for the measure pressure, and explore the distribution disciplinarian of gross dynamic hydraulic pressure and fluctuating pressure. The influential factors such as the length of spur dike, flux and depth of flow are also analyzed.

    • A 2-D numerical model for salt water intrusion in the Pearl river delta

      2012(3):7-13.

      Abstract (1515) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (2) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The problem of saltwater intrusion in the Pearl river delta is very serious especially in recent 20 years. The Pearl River network is complicated with hundreds of channels connected and 8 outlets in the downstream, which makes the hydraulics in the delta much more difficult to analyze. Numerical model is considered as the main method to study the saltwater intrusion because numerical simulation can reduce cost and time as well.To analyze the process of saltwater intrusion, we set up the model with a combined mesh style (triangular and quadrilateral) , which covers both the Pearl River network and the estuary, and finite volume method is applied to discrete the space. The result showes that the calculation values of tide level, flow velocity and salinity are consistent with the measured data, which proves that this model can be applied in real engineering.

    • Field experimental study on force on the body of sheet pile reinforced revetment

      2012(3):14-19.

      Abstract (1251) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (3) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The magnitude and distribution mode of the skin friction resistance has considerable influence on the settlement of the sheet pile, and further on the stability of the revetment reinforced by the sheet pile. The settlement is an important study content while the sheet piles of the revetment structure are driven to the relatively hard layer. Field experiment is carried out in the actual sheet pile improved revetment project at Huzhou section of Chang-Hu-Shen waterway to research the distribution mode and magnitude of the sheet pile's skin friction resistance. Stress gauges are arranged on the axial line in the pre-process of the sheet pile, and the jointing and embedding manner are presented. Through detected stress gauges, the axial force and the load transfer mechanism are adequately studied respectively in the harden progress and the loading procedure. The stress gauges in the sheet pile will bear pull force firstly then turn into press force and tend to be stable during the concrete solidify progress. Stress gauges should be recalibrated to analyze the load transfer mechanism under increasing loading, owing to the great inference of construction load on the stress gauges. The axial force of the top pile exhibited considerable variation, but the middle and under part of the pile show small changes but large values, and the pile load on the top is easily transformed. The skin friction resistance is fully played near the top pile; it accounts for 40 percent of the all skin friction resistance for distance shorten than 0.3 meters to the top pile. The recommended value of the ultimate skin frictional resistance in the Technical Specifications (JGJ 94—2008)is much larger, and the measured maximum friction is only 63.9% of the recommended value.

      2012(3):20-23.

      Abstract (1375) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Earth pressure distribution and variation on foundation bucket of bucket foundation breakwater were simplified to the plain strain condition and studied by FEM. The numerical investigation shows that the earth pressure on the harbor side surface outside the harbor ward side bucket increases significantly, however, earth pressure on surface outside the sea ward side bucket decreased significantly, they affected the stability of breakwater notably. In the middle of the partition, earth pressure changed invisibly, displacement of breakwater and soil was likely the same. Harbor ward inner wall of seaward bucket decreased and sea ward inner wall of harbor ward bucket increased to a certain extent. Then earth pressure distribution on each wall under limit stated was analyzed for simplified stability analysis.

      2012(3):50-54.

      Abstract (1847) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (1) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:According to the model experiment on the wave forces on the upper structure of the wharf under combined conditions of different water stages and the same wave parameters, we obtain the maximum horizontal wave force, the maximum uplift wave force on the upper structure of wharf, the uplift wave force corresponding to the maximum horizontal wave force, and the horizontal wave force corresponding to the maximum uplift wave force. The phase difference between the maximum horizontal wave force and the maximum uplift wave force are analyzed, and the tested data for the maximum uplift wave force is compared with the theoretical value. The experimental results show that with the increase of water level, wave force on wharf upper structure increases first and then decreases. In the design high water level, wharf忆s upper structure suffer the maximum wave force; the maximum uplift wave force and the maximum horizontal wave force do not appear simultaneously, there is a phase difference.

      2012(3):55-59.

      Abstract (726) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (2) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The dynamic response of the piles under extreme waves is investigated according to the Codes of Harbor Hydrology( JTJ 213—1998),we discrete the piles with FEM method and calculate the pile response considering the fluid-structure coupling effect in deep sea water environment. For further researching the pilesoil interaction, we carry out a comparative analysis with that under different pile-soil conditions. Results show that the pile-soil interaction has a great impact on the pile response in the open sea environment. The pile response under saturated soil has an error of 10% comparing with that under simplified impedence.

      2012(3):60-63.

      Abstract (492) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:There covers very thick soft clay in Zhujiang area. For a project of this area, the cement deep mixing method is used to improve the clayey ground. However, the soft clay is very thick and it is lack of experience, so we need to study the strength of cement mixing soil: after taking soil sample in situ, we start our test on the strength of cement mixing soil. Taking the cement amounts as 8%, 10%, 12%,14%,16% and 18% respectively, and water cement ratios as 0.9, 1.1 and 1.3, we analyze the strength of cement mixing soil at different ages. The results show that even under the condition of 18% cement amount and 0.9 water cement ratio, the strength of cement mixing soil at 90 d age is less than 1.0 MPa, which is lower than normal. After mixing fly ash and admixture of UNF-5, the strength of cement mixing soil is increased to 1.4 MPa.Therefore, admixtures must be mixed into the cement mixing soil to increase the active strength.

      2012(3):78-81.

      Abstract (597) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (1) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The value of Cm, the coefficient of hydrodynamic mass, has an important influence on the calculation of the impact energy of mooring ship in the beam sea. At present, there is a great difference among the values of Cm in current relative domestic and oversea documents, and the coefficient value in domestic water transportation industry standards is smaller, which is a hidden danger of building structures. Compared with the regulations on this value, and analyzing the results by referring to formulae and combining the engineering project, we know that the value of Cm in domestic current standards is obviously less than that appeared in other domestic and foreign codes and research reports. It is suggested that Cm for ships larger than 200 000 DWT should be increased to the value between 1.7 and 2.0.

      2012(3):99-103.

      Abstract (1472) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:After the 12.5 m deep water channel of Yangtze estuary extends to Taicang, for making full use of Yangtze estuary deep channel regulation works, making better use of lower Yangtze River harbors and channels, and promoting the social and economic development of the Yangtze delta zone, it is in an urgent need to extend the deep water channel to Nanjing. The south Liu river reach is complex in natural condition, with combined influence by river discharge and tide, so it is necessary to assure the design lowest navigation water level in order to suitably and economically carry out the main channel regulations and exploitation of the middle and lower Yangtze River according to the present condition. For the river reaches without tide influence or with insignificant tide influence, the design lowest navigation water level should adopt the synthetic duration curve method, while for those with obvious tide influence, cumulative frequency as 90% of low tide levels should be adopted. The south Liu river reach is influenced by both tide and river discharge, thus further research is necessary to study the scope of applications of two methods.

      Abstract (1175) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The branch of Baguazhou is a typical goose-head shape branch river, with the branch on the left and the main on the right. Main branch is in right. Recently, due to the scouring and siltation at the bar head and increasing development and utilization of the river bank, wharves along the river increas and the division ration of the left branch reduces gradually, which is closely related to the impact from the resistance by the wharfs’pile groups. This paper studies the accumulative influence of wharf忆s pile group on the division ration by a 2-D flow mathematic model. The result reveals that with the building up of wharves, the flow resistance increases and the division ratio of the left branch decreases remarkably.

Abstract:Reclamation is carried out in the coastal area of Wenzhou through dredging sludge from the bottom of waterway in the sea, and large -area sludge ground is formed and then consolidated by vacuum preloading. The dredge fill ground which has been treated is urgent to be used for engineering construction. But its bearing capacity can’t meet the requirement of construction. In order to study the way of improving the bearing capacity, five test areas are designed for field tests. Modified vacuum preloading method without sand cushion is studied in different programs. According to the tests results, modified vacuum preloading method can achieve good results in the reinforcement of dredged fill soft ground. Consolidation effect can be better improved in the condition that horizontal drain pipes are encrypted or braced by PVC pipes inside. Modified vacuum preloading combined with surcharge preloading can protect the vacuum membrane and speed up the consolidation of the soft ground to an extent.

Abstract:An axisymmetric analytical consolidation theory of soft ground under vacuum preloading combined with electro-osmosis is established by considering superposition of electric water seepage flow and pressure flow, the impact on vacuum loss induced by well resistance, the Hansbo’s sand drain foundation consolidation theory and vacuum combined with electro-osmosis boundary conditions. The analytical solutions for average excess pore pressure and radial average degree of consolidation are provided and varied. Finally, the effect of different load combinations on average excess pore pressure and radial average degree of consolidation is investigated by analysis of examples. The results show that the average excess pore pressure under vacuum preloading combined with electro-osmosis is the superposition of vacuum preloading and electro -osmosis respectively, the effect of soil reinforcement can be ensured through adjusting the voltage when the vacuum is insufficient, the better consolidation effect can be gained by higher supply voltage in the case of certain vacuum.
