      2011(9):36-41.

      Abstract (347) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Since the“ Eleventh Five-year Plan”, water transportation engineering construction in China has been developing vigorously, with a clear trend of“ diversification of investment sources and forms, upsizing of construction, and complication of project management”. The upsizing and complication of engineering make it hard to meet the construction targets of water transportation project construction by working with the traditional simple project-organization mode. The new project management mode which is fit for the characteristics of water transportation engineering shall be studied and established to improve the project management performance. By the professional management technique, management method and management procedure of the new mode, we can realize systematic and integrated project management and reach the objective of the project.

    • Influence of seismic resistance reserves of piled foundation on safety of bridge in seismic resistance design

      2011(9):50-54.

      Abstract (224) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (1) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:It is very difficulty to check the wounds of piles and it will take long time to repair it if the piled foundation was harmed or failed in earthquake. The hard work and the high cost for strengthening piles will also delay the reconstruction and even block its recover, that’s why many countries are paying more and more attention to seismic resistance reserves of piled foundation. Unfortunately this idea has not yet been completely accepted by our civil engineering so as to lead the bridge piled foundation weaker, the reserves of piled foundation is generally less than the piers. This paper analyzes and explaines the influence of the seismic resistance reserves of piled foundation on the safety of bridge by showing the principles, comparing the bar arrangement of typical piers and piles, and analyzing the sample bridges in China and Japan by non-liner pushover analysis.

      2011(9):128-132.

      Abstract (1091) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Along with the leapfrog development of water transportation industry, excellent port sites are less and less, so the new ports tend to be built in the areas with strong wave and deep water. So it is an important issue to seek a way of guaranteeing the port operation conditions for the port construction in the new period. Huaneng Haimen power plant was built in the odious conditions. Although the original layout used the double surrounding breakwater, it can’t meet the berthing demand. By optimizing the axis of the breakwater, the structure of the breakwater head and the partial excavation, the wave height inside the basin reduces prominently, and thus meets the demands of port operation.

Abstract:The effective width of breakwater entrance and its dimensions are clearly defined in the current design code. However, with the enlargement of ships, some existing breakwater entrances can hardly meet the code-specified navigation requirements. Furthermore, the practice shows that, under some certain sailing conditions, the appropriately reduced effective width of breakwater entrance is able to meet the requirements of safe navigation. On the basis of a project instance, this paper studies relevant specifications and main impact factors of effective width of breakwater entrance, and gives some proposals on methods for determining the effective width of breakwater entrance.

The value of large ships calculated by the current standard formula is much smaller than the model test value, mainly because the Cm value, the influence coefficient of ship additional water, is too small. Increasing the fund of code revision is recommended in order to use the measured parameters to determine Cm value.

Abstract:In Egypt Port Said Container Terminal Phase II, the wharf structure with pile and diaphragm wall was successfully applied, and the three-dimensional finite element method was adopted for the structure calculation under the consideration of the pile-soil interaction. The structural internal force was by the modified vertical elastic foundation beam method, and the overall stability calculation took the cut-off pile power into consideration. The project design was innovative in both the structural type and the .calculation method. The wharf structure with pile and diaphragm wall is between the pile and diaphragm wall, and is more suitable for medium-large terminal structures with thick soft soil and favorable land construction conditions.

Abstract:The application the semi-vertical hydraulic revetment, a new port engineering structure, is still in the stage of exploration. This type of revetment structure is built on soft foundation, its foundation deformation characteristics has a great difference with that of the vertical type. In addition, the loading method and size is controlled strictly in soft foundation. Based on field loading test and on-site monitoring of foundation deformation of the semi-vertical hydraulic revetment, we compare and analyze the foundation settlement in different field test conditions and discuss the settlement and failure mode of the foundation.

Abstract:The number of mooring lines of large vessels is determinate and hard to increase. So it is always difficult to satisfy the requirement to restrict the vessel by existing mooring lines in some hard weather. The quick release pulley which was used in a large oil wharf can strengthen the restriction to vessels without increasing the mooring lines. The quick release pulley have many other functions similar to those of quick release hooks, also it has a wide application prospect.

      Abstract (576) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The layout of a navigation-power junction must satisfy firstly relevant requirements of vessels passing through the dam. The layout of locks is the main factor of site selection and layout of the dam. Through some cases studies, the general requirements of site selection and layout of navigation dam are summarized. Both the straight reach and the curved reach in a river could be selected to arrange the navigation dam. The layout can be divided into two types: One is the concentrated layout and the other is the separated one. The focus of the former arrangement is the influence of discharge flow from the hydropower station and spillway on the lock, while the focus of the separated arrangement is the layout of the entrance area connecting the access channel to the lock and the river.

Abstract:The vibro-replacement gravel pile was first introduced to China by CCCC Water Transportation Consultants Co., Ltd. and Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute in 1977, and has been widly developed and applied extensively during the past 30 years. This paper describes a successful project using vibro-replacement gravel piles for ground treatment in the hydraulic-fill foundation, which proves that the use of vibro-replacement growel piles for strengthening filled soft soil with undrained shear strength less than 20 kPa gets satisfactory results. Thus it may serve as a reference for similar engineering.
