      2011(07):1-5.

      Abstract (253) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:To enhance the applicability of the trestle bridge for train ferries, a novel flexible linkspan is put forward which can be hinged to shore at one end and moved up and down and also left and right at the other end, and hence can be connected to various decks on board to facilitate the loading or discharging of rolling stock. The basic configuration of the flexible linkspan and the assembling feature of its main parts are presented with a description of its working mechanism. The key parameters of the flexible linkspan, such as transverse moving distance of the moving end, turning angle of the linkspan, overhang length of carlings, are also formulated. The initial research outcomes show that the new type of flexible linkspan is feasible and practical.

    • Coordinated development of port and regional economy of Shandong province based on DEA

      2011(07):25-30.

      Abstract (1105) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Based on the analysis of the mutual development of port and regional economy, this paper constructs two evaluation models base on DEA, one of which is a horizontal model to evaluate the port and regional economy and the other is a time-dynamic longitudinal model to evaluate the relationships between them. The horizontal model results show that the port and regional economy of Qingdao are dual-valid, and the regional economy of Weihai is valid but port of it is not. The port and regional economy of Yantai and Rizhao are invalid. It means that the port and economic development of each region in Shandong province is uneven, and there are great differences among regions. Results from the longitudinal models indicate that from 2000 to 2009, the port and regional economy failed to achieve the effective coordination. Finally, this paper proposes some targeted strategic initiatives which can promote the coordinated development of port and regional economy.

      Abstract (657) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Current pile design methods lack special treatment on the coupling of inclined loads, so the actual conditions of high-piles can’t be reflected accurately. A method for calculating the coefficient matrix of lateral nonlinear springs, which is very applicable in finite pole element analysis, is proposed based on the concept of Newmark spring and the p -y curves formula. Then, The finite element program, which considers the P-effect, is compiled on the basis of the analysis model, and applied to analyze real projects. The correctness and feasibility of the presented model is confirmed by comparing the results of this study with testing piles. Moreover, the influence degree of the rotation on the pile top and P-驻effect is analyzed.

      Abstract (1146) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The 300 000 DWT floating dock project of Dalian COSCO Shipyard is located in the south-east of the plant, which is to build a 300 000 DWT floating dock, a 300 000 DWT ship-repairing pier and a breakwater. The general layout plan has solved the problem of limited water area with the other company’s harbors, the proper use of the coastline, the reasonable axes of the breakwater, and also the optimization of its length. The pier adopts the caisson gravity structure which is of rich construction experience, while the breakwater adopts the innovated perforated caisson structure, which can resist the sea wave effectively, and make the structure reasonably stressed. Rock-socketed piles are used for the first time as the anchoring of the floating dock, and the“Zhang method”is chosen to calculate the internal forces, which makes the resistance coefficient a constant.

      2011(07):76-82.

      Abstract (1695) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:A detailed research is done on the distribution coefficient of the horizontal force in the highpiled wharf using the finite element software ansys, focusing on the impact of vertical bents’distance and bent numbers on the distribution coefficient. It is modeled and analyzed in six different structures of 5 spans, 6 spans,7 spans, 8 spans, 9 spans and 10 spans and in five different distances of 5 m, 6 m, 7 m, 8 m, 9 m and 10 m respectively. The results show that the impact of the vertical bents’distance on the distribution coefficient is little with the maximum of 4.93%, while the bent number impacts a lot with the maximum of 49.6% for the calculation example in this paper. Reasonable suggestions are put forward to the analysis method of the large wharf structure with many spans and large bents, based on the comparative analysis of the most adverse bent distribution coefficient with the number in the standers.

      2011(07):83-87.

      Abstract (1398) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:There is a great disparity among the harbor design code of China and BS 6349-4: Maritime Structures and OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines associated with the berth length of open sea terminals: the berth length provided by Chinese codes is longer. A basin experiment is carried out to study the influence of the berth length of open sea terminals on the mooring force and ship movement. The hydrological conditions include wave, tide and wind; the test ship model is a typical 30 000 DWT oil tanker; 3 berth length arrangements are considered in this test. The experimental results indicate that by reducing the berth length and homogenizing the cable length, the mooring force tends to be uniform and the ship movement related with horizontal restrain can be reduced.

      Abstract (718) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Using the field measurement data of underwater topography and the hydrological data, the river-bed evolution of South Branch in the Yangtze Estuary is analyzed, and the evolution process, characteristics and mechanism are discussed. The results indicate that the river-bed of South Branch remained stable in the past decade generally, and has some changes as follows: 1) The import section of the Baimao sand shoal north waterway deposits, and the south waterway erodes; 2) The main channel of South Branch below the Qiyakou erodes in the north and deposits in the south; 3) South of the Xiabiandan sand shoal erodes in the upstream and deposits in the downstream; 4) The heads of sub-Xinliuhe sand shoal, Xinliuhe sand shoal and Zhongyang sand shoal retreat obviously; 5) The volume of river channel is increased. The evolution characteristics have a close contact internally and the river erosion-accretion shows a top-down transfer process. The main driving factor of the recent erosion-accretion evolution is the flowing sediment in North Branch, and the other two factors are ebb-tide advantage flow and the silty river-bed. These factors will still exist, therefore the river-bed of South Branch will continue the recent evolution trends.

      2011(07):136-140.

      Abstract (1285) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:With the trend of scale extension in coastal bulk cargo port area and the widely adoption of large bulk cargo carriers recently, higher requirements are put forward for both navigation safety and waterway capacity. Safety duration controlling the trailing time between entering-port ships is one of the factors that affect the waterway capacity. Based on Arena-based port navigation operation simulation model, this paper analyses the impact of safety duration on the waterway capacity in different conditions, and the result was applied to real case studies. The simulation results show that safety duration and waterway capacity are negative power correlated, the change of freight traffic direction has little affect on the sensitivity between the two factors, the influence of safety duration on double waterways is more significant while the impact on single-waterway decreases with the increase of navigation duration.
