    • On charge passed through concrete after uniaxial compression

      2011(06):16-19.

      Abstract (464) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:This paper discusses the effects of different degrees of load on charge passed through concrete by ASTM C1202 method. The results indicate that the charge passed through concrete after different levels of compressive loading has different growth which shows a quadratic curve. The mineral admixture can significantly reduce the permeability of concrete, the affect on charge passed through the mineral admixture modified concrete is less than that of the normal concrete. As the load increases to a certain level, the evaluation criteria of charge passed is not suitable for evaluating these species. Moreover, the chloride-ion migration amount of species after loading can be considered as one quantitative index of concrete permeability.

Abstract:The fatigue reliability of light-wharf structures which are affected by wave loads and ship impact forces is studied by wave spectrum analysis theory and the theory of linear cumulative damage. Based on the large displacements characteristics of light-wharf structures, we calculate the impact forces under consideration of the light-wharf’s stiffness. The wave load is calculated by the Airy Wave Theory and the speed of water particles is calculated by the linear Morison Equation. The results show that the wave loads and impact forces have remarkable effects on the fatigue reliability of light-wharf structures, and the combined effect of wave loads and impact forces should be considered when calculating the fatigue life.

The regime changes are mainly reflected in the inlet split ratio adjustment and the mainstream of the local thalweg changes. All of these have led to the river channel conditions have a significant adverse impact. In response to these, proposed idea of channel regulation is put forward. It is to strengthen control of the important beach and coastline which have influence of channel conditions, to stabilize beach slot pattern, to control or adjust the inlet diversion structure, and to maintain the current relatively favorable channel conditions. Especially, for those reaches may be a shallow, it must take necessary engineering measures to narrowed appropriate shallow section and increase the flight capacity tank washing, in order to improve channel scale.

Abstract:The Three Gorges lock is a five-step lock with a higher water head. Since the two adjacentlined locks and the ship lift share the downstream approach channel, the hydraulic problem of the lock became the most difficult among the world’s existed locks, and is one of the key problems of lock design. Based on the scientific research results, with the rational arrangement of the water-carriage system and optimization of operating parameter of the valve, we overcame the problems of waiting ships in the first lock in the four-run mode, and realized the working condition with the head rising from 45.2 m to 47 m. Thus the five-run mode was transformed to four-run mode, and the lock capacity was effectively improved.

      Abstract (526) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:When structures are built on soft soil, the bearing capacity can be hardly satisfied as the soil has the characteristics of high water ratio, high compressibility and poor shear strength. However, the bearing capacity can be improved through structure itself by taking full advantage of the interaction between the structure and soil. Firstly, an experiment is carried out to compare the measured value of the experiment with that of the Plaxis simulation. The results show that the Hardening-Soil model is able to simulate the bearing capacities of the box and bucket foundation on soft soil. Then, the ultimate bearing capacity of the structure on one layer soil and stratified soil are studied. The influence factors of structure form, structure dimension, parameter of soil and the thickness of the layer are analyzed, and modified formulas of quadrate, circular and strip box and bucket foundation are concluded. Finally, using FEM program Plaxis, the paper establishes a numerical analysis model for the box and bucket foundation of Tianjin harbor breakwater extension project.

      Abstract (1788) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Applying the simplified model and changing the permeability coefficient of geotextile at model openings, this paper simulates the actual changes of underground water level at treatment interior area during soft ground treatment by vacuum preloading based on the laboratory test. The test results show that the underground water level declines during vacuum preloading. Fitting the curve of H-(-lgK), it is concluded that the less the soil's permeability coefficient is, the greater the water level declines. The test reveals that we need to consider the water supply at the reinforcement area by surrounding groundwater and draw up the new standards of seal design to the surrounding reinforced area.
