      2011(05):1-6.

      Abstract (1608) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:In order to improve the representativeness of data for the calculation of riding high tides in a long waterway at a tidal estuary, this paper presents the multi-station combined method for the calculation. Based on multi-station simultaneous tidal data, and taking the navigational mode, tidal wave propagation and other factors into account, this method can get a reasonable result of riding high tide level in a tidal estuarine waterway. The calculation based on Yangtze Estuary deepwater channel shows that, at the same tide -riding duration and cumulative relative frequency, the riding high tide level needed for a ship to sail into the estuary is bigger than that at a single station alongside, and esp. significantly bigger than that when the ship moving out. The design of a long navigational channel at a tidal estuary should identify a reasonable tide-riding mode according to the nature and strength of tides at local estuary and their comparison with run-off, the characteristics of ships’navigation such as speed, sailing in/out with/without load, and depths along the channel, i.e. to define a suitable tide-riding length of the channel accordingly.

      Abstract (1387) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Till now there isn’t an accurate theoretical method to determine the rotation center of the embedded large-diameter cylinder. Using infinite difference software to simulate the overturning of the cylinder under horizontal loads, we get the rotation center by analysis the model position before and after rotation. Based on the analysis of the change pattern of the rotation center with different parameters and through the comparison with the existed method named Hansen, we can get the conclusion that the new method can perfectly reflect the trend of the development of the rotation center under different parameters, thus it’s much more practical than Hansen.

      2011(05):40-44.

      Abstract (1054) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Based on the bi-level, the load transfer mechanism of stiffened piles with long core pile was analyzed. The“cement-soil plug”was formed when a PHC pipe pile was implanted into bi-direction cement mixing pile in a concentric manner. The theory of cavity expansion was adopted for analyzing the disturbance on the side soil, and the radial stresses of pile-soil contact surface before and after the complete occlusion of cement soil plug were calculated. Considering the shear strength, the calculation equation for side friction was reduced then. On the basis of the engineering, side friction forces were calculated by equations in this paper and the code respectively.Comparing with those calculated based on the code, the forces calculated by the equation proposed in this paper coincided better in mucky soils and lacked in the silty clay. Affected by the load and data acquisition mode, forces measured in-situ were less than the calculated ones.

    • Experimental research on water retention capacity of unsaturated expansive soil

      2011(05):54-58.

      Abstract (1402) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The experimental research on soil water characteristics of expansive soil with different dry density is carried out by the pressure plate. The basic characteristics are analyzed on the soil water characteristic curve (SWCC). The effect of dry density is discussed on water retention capacity. The two basic eigenvalues are deduced according to the soil water characteristic curve. The results show that the effect is varied in the regime of SWCC. Dry density has little effect on the boundary effect stage when the matric suction is under the air-entry value. The water retention capacity is enhanced significantly on the transformation stage when matric suction is over the air-entry value. The air-entry value and resident water content are also high and increase as the dry density increases. The mathematic model is advanced to describe the SWCC of expansive soil. Then, the effect of dry density of expansive soil on the parameters of SWCC equation is analyzed. The relationship of dry density, matric suction and degree is described by a function expression.

      Abstract (1332) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The influence of mix quantity of polypropylene fiber to the key property of concrete was studied based on the mechanical experiment of polypropylene fiber concrete. The test result indicated that both the compressive strength and the splitting tensile strength of polypropylene fiber concrete were reduced with the increase of the mix quantity of the fiber. When the mix quantity increased from 0 to 1.2 kg/m3, the 7 d resistant to compression and the tensile strength of the fiber concrete reduced by 11.4% and the 8.7% respectively comparing with those of the control concrete, the 28 d intensity of the fiber concrete reduced by 12.1% and 3.6% separately, but the anti-impact ability of concrete enhanced by 4.76 times. Moreover, the addition of the polypropylene fiber enabled a higher toughness of concrete, which is crucial to the prevention of deformation and cracks of normal concrete under loads.

      Abstract (1513) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The development of the ports and cities in the Seto sea area has a great effect on the economic development of Japan. It is a typical case of harmonized development between the port and the city and is worthy of studying. To explore the relationship of port and the industry, cargo throughput and container throughput are used to represent the port development level. GDP and the number of employees are used to represent the industrial development level. Firstly, grey relational analysis method is used to calculate the correlation between ports and industries, and the grey correlations of each county are compared and the developing strategies of the Seto sea area are summarized. The results can bring an enlightenment to the development of the coastal economic zone of Liaoning province. Then, a comprehensive evaluation model is proposed, with both functionality and balance taken into account. So the main port indicator that has a great influence on the development of industries in the Seto sea area can be determined. It is cargo output. Lastly, results of the proposed model and the usually used models are compared. It shows that the model proposed is more realistic, and it can evaluate the relationship between ports and industries in the Seto sea area more accurately.

      2011(05):75-79.

      Abstract (1190) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (1) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The back porch ship impact force will be added on the high-piled wharf under the simultaneous operation of the apron mooring and back porch berthing, and the transverse displacement and the pile foundation inner force of wharf structure will be changed as well. According to the mechanical characteristics, the ROBOT numerical simulation is used to analyze the mechanical characteristics and the deformation of the both-sidesmooring-berthing high-piled wharf. The applicability of the actual engineering ROBOT calculation is validated, and according to the load combination by more complete calculation and analysis, it is pointed out that for the both-sides-mooring-berthing high-piled wharf, the added back porch impact force has a great influence on the bending moments and shear of straight piles, and the transverse displacement of the wharf will be lager, so we should pay more attention to the structural design of the high-piled wharf.

      Abstract (1239) HTML (0) PDF 0.00 Byte (0) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Combined with the development process and container parameters of Shanghai Waigaoqiao port area, the game model between container terminals among a port area under overload operation is constructed. The equilibrium stevedorage and coalition profit are solved by the backward induction. The results suggest that comparing with the competition game, the container terminal of coalition can charge higher stevedorage, at the same time, the market share of the incomplete coalition container terminal is on the downside, while the equilibrium stevedorage and market share as well as the profit are on the upside. In contrast to the complete coalition, the equilibrium stevedorage and market share as well as profit of the incomplete coalition container terminal are decreasing; the equilibrium stevedorage and profit of the outsider are significantly decreasing, but the market share of it is greatly increasing, i.e., the real winner is the outsider which earns a better payoff without joining the coalition.

Large-strain consolidation simplied settlement prediction method of double-layered soft clay foundation is proposed under step load, which be applied to the settlement process prediction of double-layered soft clay foundation of dredged fill and marine deposit silt in land reclamation projects. The obtained results verified that: 1) The relationship of void ratio e-effective stress and coefficient of permeability k-(1+e) of dredged fill is linear, and large-strain coefficient of consolidation of dredged fill is approximately constant under different consolidation pressure of 0-25 kPa and 25-200 kPa. 2) Compared with the classical consolidation theory, the consolidation settlement process of doublelayered soft clay foundation obtained by the large-strain consolidation simplified method is more reasonable, which provides a facility and practical settlement prediction method for soft clay foundation.

Abstract:In port engineering, the problem of cracks in surface of less reinforced concrete breast wall is quite common. The cracks not only influence the visual quality, but also weaken the durability of structures when sea water penetrates into deep cracks and corrodes the internal reinforcement. But there is no uniform standard for cracks’control yet because of the complexity of construction conditions and the natural environment. Based on the construction experience, we analyze all causes of cracks in wharf breast wall, and put forward relative countermeasures. Good effects have been acquired in practice.
