Abstract:Dozens of 10, 000 t berths and deep-water waterways are planned to be constructed in Tieshan Bay sea area, which will result in the change of tidal current and sediment motion due to land reclamation. Based on methods of unstructured grid and dynamic stability margin (DSM), a planar 2-D model is built up to imitate the tidal-field’s change and analyze the back-silting intensity and quantity in the construction area, so as to solve the technical problems concerning the tidal current and sediment and provide a scientific foundation for the optimization of the project.

Abstract:The proper planning and designing of the harbor channel’s traffic capacity is beneficial to the improvement of the service efficiency and quality of the harbor system. On the basis of the summarization of the factors influencing the harbor channel’s traffic capacity, this paper analyzes the computation model and the simulation model of traffic capacity from such three aspects as the deterministic mathematical analysis, statistical analysis methods based on queuing theory and simulation analysis respectively, the research ideas, the advantages and disadvantages of which are described. The mathematical analysis focuses on the static analysis, while the simulation technique focuses on the dynamic analysis and also can combine various factors that influence the traffic capacity of harbor channel. This overview research may serve as guidance for related further research.

Abstract:The opening rate and the opening area’s position are important parameters which influence wave attenuation characteristics of perforated caisson. The wave height in front of the caisson with different opening rate was measured through physical modeling. The multipoint method was used to analyze the wave reflection coefficient, and the experiment results of the relationship between the opening rate and the wave reflection coefficient were given. Moreover, the influence of the opening area’s position on wave attenuation effectiveness was analyzed. Finally, the wave reflection coefficients of two cross sections with different width were compared.

Abstract:There are a lot of innovations in Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge project. The design, analysis and calculation based on the theory of classical mechanics were carried out by the analysis software such as the bridge structure design system, MIDAS, ANSYS and STS, and the drafting software such as AutoCAD, 3dsmas and Photoshop. The main achievements are as following: 1) Being the arch bridge with the longest span among all the existed ones; 2) Utilizing the spherical support with the largest bearing capacity up to now all over the world; 3) Adopting three kinds of materials and variable widths for the main truss rods, with the maximum thickness of 80mm for the splicing plate, both were the first applications in China; 4) Adopting the prestressed system in the steel bridge permanent structure for the first time in China to reduce the steel consumption and cut down the cost; 5) Overcoming the most difficult points in the world including the traffic load of upper-lower ten-lane road and two-lane track, the construction of multi-cellular triumphal arched main pier,and the road-track dual purpose & arch-girder, etc.

Abstract:Coastal engineering will influence hydrodynamics of neighboring waters. Based on a mathematical model with triangular grid and finite element, this study simulates the changing hydrodynamics of sea areas after the construction of sea-crossing bridge and embankments of the harbor highway. The results indicate that as the model can simulate hydrodynamics of waters with complicated topography, it can be applied to predicting the flow field change after the construction of coastal engineering, and provide a reference for future selection of computing models.

Abstract:Through a series of experiments in including anodic polarization by mixing different dosage of corrosion inhibitor in sand mortar, the slump, loss of slump, set time, gas content of fresh concrete and compressive strength, durability experiment including impermeability and freeze-thaw resistance and the test of saline water immersion, it proved that mixing some FAC-13 corrosion inhibitor in concrete has no influence on the slump and loss of slump, set time, compressive strength as well as durability including the seepage height, the loss in weight and the relative dynamic elastic modulus, but the chloride diffusion coefficient, the corrosion ratio of reinforcements and the weight loss rate dropped obviously. It proves that the corrosion inhibitor has obvious antirusting effect on the steel bar and has applied successfully in real projects.

Abstract:The back foundation of a near-shore unsheltered container wharf was unstable since it was formed by soft soil and crushed stone. Due to the change of external conditions and the accuracy limitation of the monitoring instrument, the monitoring data often fluctuated. This paper probes into the way of guaranteeing the monitoring accuracy of deformation and adjusting the platform’s displacement trend based on a various kinds of data, so as to give the early warning signal timely.

Abstract:Using two-dimensional shallow-water tidal wave motion equation and continuity equation,combining with measured data of one tide station and four flow sites to verify the trend of points, obtained the realistic flow field, on which basis, the analysis that contain flow field, deposition and the water quality caused by the project could be obtained. The results show that: the southwest region produces the velocity increase,while the other regions of it and the area near the pier produce the velocity decrease. The maximum reducing of depth happens in deposition equilibrium up to 1.2 m; the increases of erosion change with the amount of decreasing distance from the dike erosion and scour, while the equilibrium volume of it is 0.1 ~ 0.3m. COD discharging in normal circumstances has little impact on the surrounding water; and when it happens in the accident, its influential sphere expands, but the impact on the surrounding water quality is still very small.

Abstract:From the special terrain geological and hydrological conditions in the fluctuating backwater area of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, taking the proposed third stage project of Cuntan as an example, this paper compares the feature of structural type, analyzes the construction method and determines reasonable construction water level, optimum design of bent span and foundation pile diameter on overhead vertical wharf structure, and proposes a large-diameter-pile and long-span overhead wharf structure pattern adapting to the fluctuating backwater area of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, which can reduce the work amount and construction cost comparing with the traditional ones, and solve the problem that the low water level construction time is short after water storage of the Three Gorges Reservoir. The research results can provide a good technical support and may serve as reference for reservoir wharf construction.

Abstract:Guangdong province is one of the provinces famous for shipping, and port logistics develop fast.This paper analyzes the impact factors of port logistics development, and builds the Grey Correlation Model for the analysis qualitatively and quantitatively. The results indicate that the container throughput and GDP are playing an important role in the development of port logistics, and the fixed assets investment and the total imports and exports are driving the growth of the development of port logistics. Abstract:Due to the limitation by the natural terrain depth of the Yangtze River channel and navigable clearance of Nanjing Yangtze River bridge, the longitudinal extension and radiation of port logistics service are seriously held up. Thus the newly built port in the downstream of the Yangtze River shall be able to undertake the transshipment of vessels from the upstream to the sea and then to the river. The present code includes detailed stipulations on the width of the excavated-in basin, but there aren’t any stipulations yet on the entrance width of the excavated-in basin which is between two wharves. From the angle of navigation channels, drift angle and yaw angle, this paper focuses on the calculation and determination methods for the entrance width of excavated-in basin between two wharves.

Abstract:In order to research the safety reliability of high-pile wharf in highly seismic region, fast Lagrangian analysis of continua was used for seismic time history analysis and the FLAC3D software was adopted for numerical calculation. The result indicates that the high-pile wharf generates small residual horizontal and vertical displacement; the normal stress amplitude of platform's longitudinal beam and transverse beam waves up and down, but the extreme values are all within the range of allowable strength; and the axial forces of PHC piles also have a great change but all are smaller than the bearing capacity of the PHC piles. In the sight of the stiffness and intensity of the high-pile wharf, it is safe and reliable.

Abstract:The screening of the logistics forecasting indices is the first step of a logistics demand forecast.Based on the analysis of the port throughput and its influential indices, we propose a series of screening principles and methods. Taking the ports in the North Gulf of Guangxi as an example, applying the Grey Relational Analysis method and DPS(data processing software)tool, we find the correlations between the port throughput in the North Gulf of Guangxi and related forecast indicators based on the data from 2000 to 2008.Finally, a group of well-constructed indices highly correlated are chosen as the final port throughput forecasting indicators.

Abstract:Internal force of a concrete block should be calculated when reinforcing of the block is calculated according to concrete code. However, because some concrete blocks are irregular, generally they are calculated by FEM software. When complicated solid structure is analyzed by ANSYS software, the internal forces of solid elements can’t be achieved directly, so ANSYS should be developed secondly. This paper introduces the calculation theories which transfer stresses to internal forces and which are applied to the internal forces calculation of solid elements in ANSYS secondary development. This paper combines an actual engineering, the moment diagrams and torque diagrams are achieved, and the results indicate that the internal force progress developed is of applicability and commonality for solid element, therefore the progress can be applied to ANSYS for the analysis of harbor engineering.

Abstract:Through civil investigation, oversea study visit, studying home and abroad literatures about dredged materials and so on, we compare and analyze the domestic and international status and characteristics of comprehensive utilization of dredged materials, find the main problems and gaps existing in comprehensive utilization of dredged materials, and give some advice on the development orientation and focus of China concerning the utilization technology of dredged materials. The result shows that China’s level of comprehensive uses of dredged material is far behind the major developed countries abroad. The impact of China’s beneficial uses of dredged material is not only technical issue, but also other non-technical problems about concept understanding, institutional mechanisms, laws and regulations and profit distribution, etc. The development orientation and study focus of comprehensive utilization of dredged materials in China will be on the technology of blowing mud to the beach, new study and development of dredging equipment, diverse processing technologies of comprehensive utilization of dredged materials and strengthening of environmental protection technology research in the dredging process.

Abstract:Guniusha waterway is a key navigation-obstructing shallow section emerging in the middle reach of the Yangtze River in recent years, and it is of great importance to regulate this part of waterway for the smooth navigation in the middle reach of the Yangtze River. The implementation of the first phase channel regulation project of Guniusha waterway was approved by the Ministry of Transport in Feb. of 2010. The evolutional features,main influencing factors, the navigation-obstructing characteristics and regulation plans of Guniusha waterway are introduced: The variations of crossing, the deposition of Guniusha point bar and the improvement of channel,particularly the effects of the first phase project are analyzed; The evolution trend of this waterway is predicted, and the proposals on the follow-up works are put forward. After the realization of the first phase project, the situation of the river course becomes more stable, the deposit occurs at the Guniusha point bar, and the bar widens, thus the flow concentrates easily in low water, the shallow ridge at the crossing is scoured efficiently, the amount of accumulation is reduced, the degree of navigation-obstructing is relieved, and the channel conditions in the shallow area are improved, which create favorable conditions for the follow-up works. It is thought that the effect of the first phase channel regulation project will become more obvious along with the realization of the structures' functions and the expected goal will be reached.

Abstract:Sudden sedimentation of outer waterway is the crucial problem obstructing the development of Huanghua Port, which is the best coal export harbor of Shenhua Group. The construction and operation of the sand preventing dike have achieved an initial success. The paper analyses the stability and settlement of ground by three methods, i.e. theoretical calculation, experimental analysis and settlement observation, from which the direct conclusion is drawn. It puts the emphasis on the first method and makes verification by the experimental analysis,and gives the direct conclusion based on the observation data. The differences among the three methods, the mutual complementation and verification, as well as the function of geotextiles in the breakwater section on the soft ground are obtained.

Abstract:The seaward waterway of Jiaomen includes Zhenxiang and Longxuenan waterway. Channel dredging is the main method of the navigation training project. Based on analysis of river evolution and the 2D estuarial suspended sedimentation numerical model with the nested grids, the effects of the dredging project in Zhenxiang and Longxuenan waterway on flow dynamics and sediment transportation in Yamen estuary are studied.Main conclusions are as follows: 1) The river evolution of Zhenxiang and Longxuenan waterway is relatively steady.2) After implementation of the dredging project in Zhenxiang and Longxuenan waterway, the change of flow dynamics and sediment transportation in Yamen estuary is very small. The main changes take place vicinity of navigation channel with dredging project and its beach. 3) Due to the small amount of dredging works, there is little influence on the water-sediment condition in the seagoing area of Jiaomen eastuary.

Abstract:The length-width ratio of the navigation lock of downstream water level regulation project for Shuikou hydro-junction reaches 16.7:1, and the filling time is required to be short, the hydraulic indexes are required to be quite high. According to the Design Code for Filling and Emptying System of Locks and the practical situation, the type of filling and emptying system of this lock is put forward, the main dimensions and detailed layout are designed, the hydraulic characteristics, valve’s working conditions, and vessel’s berthing conditions in lock chamber and upstream and downstream approach channels are all computed and analyzed. The results indicate that all the hydraulic characteristics satisfy the requirements of the code and design.

Abstract:Braided channels commonly exist in the alluvial river. The most obvious difference between braided channel and single channel is in water flow and sediment transport. For the braided channel, flow and sediment in the diverge area and conflux area are more complex compared with the single channel , and it is easy for sediment silting, which results in water depth deficiency and navigation obstruction because of the broadening entrance. The braided channel has several sub-types, including duplex braided channel, on which little research has been carried out. The regulation technique for the duplex is also immature. Taking the Anqing duplex-braided river section as the study case, this paper probes into the regulation effect of different parts with river model test and measurement method combining with the data analysis, and proposes the key parts to be regulated based on a comprehensive comparison of Anqing duplex braided reach and the key parts.

Abstract:As an important navigation hub for Wushen (Wuhu-Shanghai) Channel, Xiaba Navigation Lock undertakes the transportation of goods in large quantities. In addition, the maximum head difference designed is up to 9.78 m. At present, this lock is one of the navigation locks with the maximum head difference in Jiangsu province. In the engineering design of Xiaba twin-line navigation lock, in view of the characteristics of large design head and great throughput of vessels, an in-depth study was carried out for the layout of the concentrated water supply system of the navigation lock; the existing conventional layout of concentrated water supply system was further improved and optimized by integrating the advantages of concentrated and dispersed water supply with the characteristics of Xiaba navigation lock; the new water supply system without unruffled segments was adopted; and desirable effects were achieved via hydraulic model tests. The concentrated water supply system free of unruffled segments boasts obvious effects in energy dissipation. Vessels can be well berthed in the lock chamber during lock filling and emptying, and be directly berthed at the rear of the head bay due to the absence of unruffled segments in the lock chamber, having shortened water delivery time, increased throughput capacity of the lock and saved construction investment. Therefore, such a system shall be applied more widely in similar projects.

Abstract:The location and current & sediment conditions of Tonggu channel are described. According to the topographic survey data between 2008 and 2009, combining with the water and sediment environment in Tonggu sea, and from four aspects including the water depth’s change along the channel, scouring -siltation distribution, siltation volume and shape’s change of the cross section, this paper analyzes the temporal and spatial distribution of scouring-siltation in the channel, and calculates the annual quantity of back-silting and average siltation density of Tonggu channel. It is concluded that: the annual quantity of back-silting of Tonggu channel is about 5.73 million m3, the siltation density is about 0.82 m/a; and the siltation is characterized by more siltation in the flood season and less in the dry season, more siltation in the main groove and less in slopes.

Abstract:Electro-osmosis is an effective way to treat soft soil ground, and the determination of its basic parameters is important in practical applications. With a new laboratory device, two electro-osmosis experiments are performed on high-moisture clay under the conditions of steady voltage and current respectively, to measure the evolution of current, voltage and water flow rate through the clay specimens. The electro-osmotic parameters of the permeability coefficient, the migration coefficient, the electrical conductivity and the unit energy consumption rate are studied. It is found that in the process of the electro-osmotic experiment, the electro-osmotic permeability coefficient, the electrical conductivity and the unit energy consumption rate decrease gradually, while the electroosmotic migration coefficient is relatively stable. Therefore, it might be more reasonable to assess the electroosmotic efficiency with the migration coefficient.

Abstract:Tangshan port Caofeidian multi-purpose wharf is the first caisson-type gravity wharf adopted in Caifeidian port area. The paper gives an application example on the use of explosive compaction method to deal with underwater ripped-rock bed-ground in Caofeidian multi-purpose wharf engineering. It also summarizes the construction method, application effect, treatment of problems, as well as matters of attention for the explosive compaction technology. Furthermore, the paper gives a technical and economic comparison between the traditional hammer ramming and this new method, so it has accumulated experience for the application of this method in similar projects in Caofeidian.

Abstract:Through adjusting the position of the closure gap of Caofeidian southeast seawall cofferdam and adopting the layered construction method, we improved the safety of closure construction. Applying the doublelayer geotextile cushion method, we enhanced the seawall’s stability against sliding. The closure construction was implemented successfully under the condition of 2.37 m fall head, 4 m/s average speed of cross-flow and 6 m/s maximum instantaneous flow speed, and the construction cost was cut down.

Abstract:The technology of underwater cast-in-situ molded concrete was adopted for the launchway in the renovation engineering of a shipbuilding yard. Vessels were launched into the water by the air bag. The slope and flatness of the launchway was the key for guaranteeing the safe launching of vessels. Underwater molded concrete was previously used for slope protection, the requirement of which to the slope and flatness was lower that for the launchway. According to the characteristics of underwater molded concrete and the launchway for vessels, we kept strict quality control on the bed flattening, molded bag processing, molded bag laying and concrete construction, and put lots of hard work on the constructing details. As a result, a satisfactory effect was achieved.
