    Abstract:

    To study the sediment deposition characteristics of typical silted tidal flats in Jiangsu Province,a cross-section survey was carried out at Yangkou Port in July 2021.The results show that there is a normal semi-diurnal tide in the study region.The current is southwestward during the flood,and gradually become northeastward during the ebb.The wave is obviously forced by the strong wind,and the wave height is obviously enhanced,the current mainly changes with the tidal cycle.The strong waves in windy period contribute to the disturbance of the water column and conducive to the suspension of sediment.The bed shear stress is mainly contributed by the current.The combined shear stress of wave and current is weaker than the critical erosion stress in most of the time,resulting in the settling of suspended sediment.On the whole,the suspended sediment is transported southward along the coast and parallel to the shore.
