Abstract:The total area of proposed artificial island in Dalian is 21 km2,and the foundation soil above bedrock is widely distributed with thick cohesive soil and muddy soil.In order to satisfy the control of foundation settlement, we study the settlement and consolidation characteristics of the foundation soil by tests.By means of in-situ pressure meter test at sea, cone penetration test and laboratory test, we obtain the consolidation compression indexes of foundation soil, compare and analyze the consistency and reliability of different consolidation parameters, and predict the settlement characteristics of the foundation by calculation.The results show that the consolidation indexes obtained from pressure meter test, cone penetration test and laboratory test can confirm each other.After reasonable foundation treatment, the predicted post construction settlement can satisfy the use requirements.The analysis results of deformation characteristics of foundation soil are reliable and can be used as the design basis of artificial island construction project.
