In view of the development of the Yangtze estuary channel，we study the current situation and conditions of the channel，and adopt the method of comparative analysis of channel service supply and actual demand to analyze the existing problems in the overall navigation capacity of the Yangtzeestuary channel，the navigation depth of the south passage，the navigation safety of the south channel，etc.，and put forward suggestions including optimizing the navigation management of the north passage，promoting the construction of the south passage phase I project，studying the development and construction of the north channel，improving the navigation safety level of the south channel，and planning the development of the north branch，so as to provide reference for the construction and development of the Yangtze estuary channel during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period.
