As a kind of non-renewable resource,coastline zone plays a key role in promoting regional economy.Therefore,the study of intensive use of coastline is of great significance for coastline resource management.This paper analyzes the layout pattern of alongside,excavated and jetty wharves,establishes an index model that evaluates the intensive use of coastline for three types to discuss the measures of intensive utilization.The results of the study show that the intensity of coastline use of excavated and jetty wharves are ideally at roughly equal levels,accounting for greater than 1.0,but the alongside wharf reaches the minimum values,accounting for approximate to 1.0.Applicability of various layouts of coastline is affected by factors such as hydrological condition,sedimentation status,topography,storage yard arrangement and handling technology，the coastline planning should be undertaken under restraints of these factors and targeted utilization intensity,and the layout that enables algebraic sum of positive incremental and negative constraining value of shoreline strength to reach maximum value should be given greater emphasis.The coastline-utilization level range of from 2 to 6 is recommended for excavated and jetty wharves.
