In terms of the problems encountered in utilization and development of the island shoreline of Ningbo Zhoushan Port,this paper summarizes the experience in site election and wharf construction at Ningbo Zhoushan Port,analyzes various kinds of island shorelines encountered in the process of site selection and construction of wharf at ports in Zhoushan area,and proposes improvement measures adopted in wharf site selection,such as connection based on original island terrain,reef explosion to remove barrier,flow regulation through diversion dike,avoidance of reflux section,etc.,and comes up with methods for effective improvement and utilization of shoreline in wharf siting in Zhoushan area of Ningbo.The main conclusion is that for utilization and improvement of the island shoreline of Ningbo Zhoushan Port,the main axis of the to-and-fro tidal current in this shoreline section must be basically straight,and the diversion and return flow shore sections shall be avoided.
