Abstract:The application and principle of vibro-compaction has been widely introduced in many domestic and international projects, while the comparison of spacing design principle for vibro-compaction among domestic and international standards has not been seen commonly in previous literature. We select the four standards comprising C573 of BS CIRIA standard, specification for ground treatment of BS ICE standard, soil dynamic and special design aspects of American NAVFAC standard and Chinese code for soil foundation of port engineering for comparison. In accordance with comparison result,it can be concluded that the BS CIRIA standard and American NAVFAC standard provide specified design tables which ares more practical, while for BS ICE standard and Chinese code only provide general requirements or spacing ranges.Further, the four design methods have been applied in Kuwait LNGI project in order to analyze the differences of spacing obtaining from different standards under the same density requirement. Therefore,it can provide significantly reference for domestic standard revision or ground improvement regarding vibro-compaction.
