Along with the recovery of global economy and the trend of container ships’ large-scale,Shanghai port,as the world’s busiest one,is facing a severe box congestion since April 2017.We analyze its reasons as well as demonstrate the technical solutions and vision planning for the problems faced by Shanghai port.The research results show that main reasons of Shanghai’s congestion port and limit future development include the shortage of throughput capacity of container berth,land resources for the port,ultra-deep waterways and ultra-deep container terminals,and the shortcomings of its future plan.This paper puts forward the point to explore Shanghai Hengsha’s unique advantages of location,shoreline and ultra-deep waterway to pave the way for solving difficulties faced by Shanghai port and plan ahead for Shanghai port.
