This paper introduces the types and main functions of geosynthetics,summarizes the progress of research on the application of geosynthetics,the field of scour prevention,ecological bank protection and breakwater construction,expounds the research achievement and engineering practice of the bottom soft mattress,active hook structure,ecological banks,and sand bags,etc.,and points out the direction of research on the application and development of geosynthetics in the port and waterway engineering.
