Geotechnical investigation forthe master plan of Massawa New Port is carried out.According to the historic data and in combination with the engineering practice,we obtain the geologic characteristics and geotechnical parameters of the project to be implemented.Volcanic strata had analyzed during investigation’s period,especially assessed upper volcanic and lower volcanic clay by drilling,in-situ test and laboratory test.Analysis and causations are given in the paper that chose volcanic strata as foundation bearing capacity layers;also the paper offers bearing capacity to provide application value for the design and construction of the project.
