    Abstract:

In order to maintain the current riffle and pool morphology and advantageous channel condition of straight reach in the Yangtze River, beach protection engineering would be supplied in the head of Manyusha shoal. It is necessary to study the maximum depth of scour surrounding the engineering for design to determine the ballast width of edge and the key ballast parts. Based on the analysis of the hydrodynamic and sediment component characteristics of the channel, the flume generalization was designed, with the method of flow band advanced to define the boundary of flume. The hydraulic conditions such as the maximum flow, annual possible maximum discharge, and frequent discharge for the experiment were determined. The simulation for the beach protection building such as the sand ribbed soft mattress, concrete interlocking blocks mattress, concrete block platoon type D department and the ripped-rock ballast, etc. were designed, which laid a foundation for the local scouring and deformation experiment surrounding the beach protection.
