This paper analyzes the problems and limitation of stipulations and implementation concerning vessel dimensions in current code of China, introduces the stipulations and application requirements in the standards, codes and guidelines of the developed countries concerning the design vessel dimensions, and then presents the influential factors, principle and method for the determination of main parameters of wharf’s design vessels, puts forward the suggestions on modification of some stipulations in the current Chinese code, especially,it suggests to provide more accurate, clear and controllable parameters for wharf’s berthing vessels in the engineering design documents.
