Abstract:Limit moisture content is used as the basic physical index to name and classify the state of cohesive soil,and the test methods and evaluation standards are explained in the Chinese,American,and British geotechnical codes.In order to better satisfy the needs of overseas project design,we analyze the differences in the test methods of the limit moisture content in Chinese,American and British codes,use the methods commonly used in the codes to conduct tests,and carry out a comparative analysis of the test results combining the engineering experience of representative projects.The results show that there is a certain correlation among the liquid limit measured by Chinese,American and British codes,and the difference of liquid limit between British and Chinese codes ranges from 0.5% to 3.0%.The difference of plastic limit between American and Chinese codes is generally less than 2.0%.
