Based on Vietnam Duyen Hai Sea Port project,the design method of scale of some water areas for the project whose water depth cannot meet the requirements is described.In addition to the decision based on the national standards and the designers’experience,the feasibility,safety and economy of the ship’s maneuvering in the port can be guaranteed by verifying and optimizing the design scheme through the ship maneuvering simulation test.Meanwhile,the limitations of model test are analyzed,which reminds the designer to reduce the deviation between the simulation and reality during the procedures of test model establishing and ship maneuvering and etc.so as to increase test accuracy and reliability.The method recommended herein may serve as reference for the layout of the similar project.
