As a new type of mooring system,automatic mooring system has been widely used abroad,but it has not been applied in China.The paper introduces the advantages and deficiencies of automatic mooring system and analyzes the effect on plane layout of wharf and economy.Through analysis,it can be concluded that the advantages of the system include faster and safer mooring and departure operation of ships,and small amount of motion during mooring.At the same time,the system can reduce the length of the wharf according to the type of the wharf;in the case of reinforcement and transformation,the system can complete the upgrading of the wharf without lengthening the wharf under the condition of only a few modifications to the original wharf.In the case of high unit cost of the wharf,the automatic mooring system can achieve good economy by reducing the length of the wharf.
