Abstract:In the design of high seismic intensity area, certain slope displacement after earthquake could be allowed based on displacement design criterion,so checking the seismic displacement is one of the important contents in seismic design of high-piled wharf.Based on the displacement theory of NEWMARK rigid slider, the empirical formulas, such as Makdisi & Seed formula,Martin & Qiu formula,Jibson formula,Saygili & Rathje formula and Jonathan formula, which are widely used in a high-pile wharf in a strong earthquake area, are compared and analyzed. The finite difference software FLAC 2D is used to verify the dynamic time history analysis. The results show that although the displacement estimation results of different empirical formulas are different, they generally conform to the probability distribution model proposed by Jonathan, and the dynamic time history analysis method has certain advantages in displacement evaluation.
