Abstract:Aiming at the problem of the calculation method of sheet pile embedded depth,the calculation method is different in different codes.We carry out a comparative study for the calculation method of embedded depth in Chinese code JTS 167-3—2009 and the US Engineer Corps Engineers design manual EM1110-2-2504,which analyzes the similarities and differences on earth pressure,shear strength parameters of the soil,angle of wall friction,distribution modes and calculation method of earth pressure of anchored wall and cantilever wall.We illustrate the difference in design steps and results according to the two codes by a typical project example.The results show that,the embedded depth is greatly affected by soil conditions to tend to a certain extent but there is no definite conclusion,and the influence degree of soil friction angle and cohesion in front of the wall is different.
