To counter the problem of serious ship backlog and low efficiency in Wangjiatan of Changshou waterway during the late falling stage,we carry out a feasibility study on opening emergency sub-waterway in the left channelof Zhongshuiqi.Based on the analysis of fluvial process and status of channel conditions in Wangjiatan,it is concluded that by removing some of Zhongshuiqi and exploding part of the Niuleiba reef,the current situation of channel bending and poor flow conditions of Chaipanzi in the left channel of Zhongshuiqi can be improved.After implementation of the project,the emergency sub-waterway is maintained when the local water level is 151.0～155.0 m(at the late falling stage and flood season).The maintenance dimension of channel is 3.0 m×50 m×560 m.
