Abstract:To estimate the reasonable berth throughout capacity of automated container terminal, this paper proposes a multi-agent based on simulation model of automated container terminal operation system to study the relationship among the throughout capacity of automated container terminal, port service level and the number of berths. The model adopts the technology of “double trolley bank bridge(DTQC)+automatic guide vehicle(AGV)+automatic rail crane (ARMG)”.The simulation results show that AWT/AST has a significant negative correlation with berth throughput, and under a certain service level, berth throughput increases significantly with the increase of the number of berths along the shore.Based on the simulation results, the method of berth passing capacity estimation for automated container terminals is proposed, which can provide decision support for the planning and operation of automated container terminals.
