A large number of full-scale ship observation tests were made in many typical ports in China.Sample data of braking distance of 199 vessels were obtained. By means of statistical analysis of the observed data of both large samples and small ones, a recommended value of the braking distance of large vessels are given, which provides a technical support for the revision of the codes.
