The MIKE21 SW wave spectrum model was applied to simulate the wave field in the sea around the Yangtze River estuary during MAISHA Typhoon and a cold snap in January 2006. The results were in good agreement with the measured data, which proved the well applicability of the model in the area and showed that the wave-fields in different weather systems had significantly different characteristics.
