The enlargement of ships has brough a great challenge to the safe navigation administration of Liulaojian lock. Liulaojian lock deals with the influence from the ultra-high ships through installing the alarming device for ultra-high ships. The significance of three types of alarming devices, esp. the type selection, installation, fault diagnosis and elimination of the infrared alarming device are expounded.
