At present, owing to different focuses on coal terminals’storage, the owners, water transportation authorities and environmental sections often have different opinions about the types of storages. This paper makes an applicability analysis of open and closed storages for coal terminals in terms of property, operation, environmental protection, occupational health, as well as the domestic and foreign situation, and suggestions for the reference cases are put forward. Suggestions on the selection of storages under various situations are also provided.
