Abstract:To address the absence of Antifer armour cubes in Chinese design codes and the lack of design guidelines, this study employs literature review, code comparison, and engineering case analysis to summarize its design methods and mainstream double-layer placement modes along with their applicable conditions. It also highlights the critical role of advanced construction technologies in ensuring placement quality.Relevant research indicates that this armour unit offers advantages such as a simple structure, ease of mass prefabrication, reliable stability, effective wave dissipation, high reparability, and convenient maintenance. It demonstrates significant advantages in protection engineering applications under harsh environmental conditions, such as deep water and large waves. However, limitations exist, including high material consumption and stringent construction requirements. The stable weight of Antifer armour units can be calculated using the Hudson formula, with the stability coefficient KD ranging from 5 to 7.Among various feasible placement modes, the closed pyramid mode features a porosity of 50%-55%,offering both high stability and effective wave dissipation.Irregular placement has a porosity of approximately 40%-50% with strong construction adaptability. The inclined wall mode has low porosity but results in significant overtopping and higher costs. It is recommended that the closed pyramid placement be prioritized in practical engineering applications, accompanied by necessary physical model test verification.Future work could combine computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize geometric parameters, such as grooves,to further improve hydrodynamic performance.
