Abstract:To address the issues of low visual discernibility, loss of fine details, and inadequate underwater topographic representation in conventional imaging for dredging depth data visualization in cutter suction dredger subaqueous dredging construction software,we propose a novel method integrating pseudo-color enhancement with adaptive gamma correction. The method builds segmented thresholds and color-mapping rules to convert grayscale bathymetric images into high-discriminability pseudo-color images.Coupled with gamma correction to design to preserve image edges while jointly enhancing contrast and brightness, the approach leverages chromatic differences to accentuate distinctions among water depths, thereby highlighting topographic variations and edge structures. As a result, visual interpretability of terrain features and detection capability for shallow points are significantly improved.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively enhances visual representation of critical construction zones, providing high-precision decision-support information for dredging path planning and depth control, and reducing the risk of misoperation. This method offers a practical,engineering-ready technical solution especially suited for complex underwater terrain visualization within depths up to 17 m.
