Abstract:In view of the situation where the original revetment structures fail to meet the requirements of relevant standards after the upgrading of inland restricted waterways,this paper studies the current renovation and reinforcement types of revetments using existing pile foundations.Considering the mechanical performance of existing pile foundations and the integrity of retaining wall structures,an approach is proposed to reinforce the revetment again by forming a “T-shaped” composite pile structure with existing and newly-built piles.By arranging foundation piles intermittently behind the original retaining wall,the original single-row pile force-bearing system is transformed into a spaced “portal frame” system,which optimizes the stress on pile foundations,reduces the deformation of the pile foundations,and meets structural requirements.For a typical project,the PLAXIS 3D finite element software is used to conduct numerical simulation of the soil excavation process in front of the piles of the re-reinforced revetment structure,and the characteristics such as pile foundation deformation and internal force are analyzed.The calculation results show that the safety factor of the re-reinforced revetment structure is increased by about 21%,the bending moment distribution of existing pile foundations is more uniform,the peak bending moment is reduced by about 23%,and the pile top displacement is decreased by about 58%,all of which satisfy the relevant standard requirements.Meanwhile,the re-reinforced revetment does not occupy waterway areas or require additional land,demonstrating good feasibility and applicability.This study can provide a reference for similar waterway upgrading projects.
