Abstract:Due to the flammability and explosiveness of loading and unloading materials,the high risk of fire hazards,and the difficulty in extinguishing fires,the fire protection design requirements for oil & gas and chemical terminals are higher than those for other terminals.Therefore,strict requirements have been made for both domestic and foreign standards.In response to the limited research on the design of oil & gas and chemical terminals under the American standard system in China,as well as the relatively broad design requirements of NFPA30 and ISGOTT standards,this paper relies on a case study of an oil and gas chemical terminal project in Africa.It compares and analyzes the similarities and differences in the configuration requirements of JTS158 and American standards.By referring to other relevant NFPA standards,it clarifies the layout requirements and parameter values for fire monitors,foam monitors,fire hydrants,international shore connection,and pump-in points for fire-fighting boats.Drawing on the water curtain separation function of JTS158,and based on NFPA13,it proposes the design requirements for water curtains in oil & gas and chemical terminals under the American standard system.To reasonably determine the flow parameters of fire pumps,scenario analysis is used to obtain the maximum fire protection design flow rate for the terminal.The research results can provide reference and guidance value for the fire protection design of oil & gas and chemical terminals under the American standard system.
